Been watching programs about 9/11 on and off all day.

I did not realize that around 500,000 people were evacuated from Manhattan by boat!
They said that was the biggest evacuation by boat/ship in history.

Amazing what Americans can do together in tragic circumstances.

BTW, I'm proud to mention that I was asked to display a truck tomorrow at our county airport, along with a fire truck and police car. There will be an brief ceremony to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11/01.
Here are some pictures from the fly-in memorial breakfast arranged by the EAA and the Civil Air Patrol. On our way home, we stopped at a friend's house and gave his son a ride in the deuce.

Yeah, she took pics in the mens room but missed the 1928 Curtis Robin J-1. I watched it take off. It was awesome!

We are a bit far away, but here is what we did.

I had the privaledge of participating in 2 memorials this weekend.
1 was for all veterans, and the other was put on by our city Fire Dept,
in honor of the first responders on 911.
We were scheduled to take part in a motorbike ride/mini convoy,
but brake issues forced me to red tag the truck.
A delegation was sent in M38s.

Pics:
#1 Truck as static display
#2 Color party at the tribute
#3 The candles that burned all night in honor of our veterans
#4 Firefighters Memorial

WE Remember,
and Yes we are watching your back.
We'll be there when you need us at your side.

Cheers from Canada.

San Angelo, TX ANG Ruck March

The San Angelo ANG did a 9/11 Ruck March along the river through downtown San Angelo.

Here's teh Article from this morning's paper about the march:

Guardsmen pay respects Standard-Times

Sunday morning, I high-tailed it over to the 9-11 Memorial (we have a piece ot steel from the Twin Towers) and took some photos of The ARK. While there, a woman quitely arrived with some flowers. (The "official" ceremony was on Saturday morning and I was unable to attend.)

Immediately after that, I took up a trailing position with the National Guard's March and followed them to The Lone Wolf Bridge - recently decommissioned from vehicle traffic service and now a pedestrian bridge (see article).

(Just got interupted - will upload pics later......)
