Hello all here are some pictures I took today and thought you all might like. These pics were taken at the Camp Cropper Motorpool. Most of these are out trucks (B Co 1/148 INF) but some are from other units.

The first 2 are of our M818. Yes there still a few of these old beasts around over here. We actually rescuced this one from a field were it had been apanded for several months. The rear axle torque rods were busted and who ever was driving it pulled it off into a field and left it there. It sat there untill we "aquired" it. When ever things were slow in the shop we would work on it. (torque rods are a PITA!!)

Great shots. Thanks for sharing.
Take care over there, and thanks for your service,

Saw a M818 pulling a house down the road in front of my house this past Saturday, but didn't have time to grab the camera for a shot... Didn't look near as nice as yours... :)

The tires on the front are the new 11R 20 Radials ( I think firestone) The rears are the older style radials (goodyears)

That's a shame about the older trucks in Iraq - most are being given away to the new Iraqi Army and wont be coming home. Guarantee they will never be allowed to be imported from said country either. Damn socialists in Washington....

Great pics Nate! Is the up-armored 923 an A2 with CTIS? I don't see any wheel-valves or shields, but I think I remember you saying a different post that it was an A2 with the 8.3 CTA. As troublesome as it is, I would imagine you guys have disabled it for reliability purposes.

steelsoldier- the 923 is an A1 and doesnt have CTIS (thank goodness) Are wrecker is an A2 and does have CTIS (unfortunately)

Heres some more pics from another unit. One is an uparmored 936 wrecker the other is an uparmored FMTV wrecker. I am not overly impressed by them, I think the HEMMT wrecker is still the best.

Thank's for your service, love the pic's My brother-in-law got back around Sept last year and told me of uparmor on the deuces. I thought he might have been talking abought the M35, but after seeing the pictures I think he must have been refering to the 900 series. Do the uparmor any of the M35's?
Thanks for your service,
littlebob

Nate:
Thanks for serving, I got back from 13 months over there in July 2006 and I am headed for Korea for my last deployment before I retire next year. Keep sending the pictures. I did not know about Steel Soldiers when I was there or I would have had a lot more pictures like yours. Keep safe and don't be afraid to give a kid a bottle of water or a Whooa Bar. We convoyed all over Iraq and by far most all the kids really are OK especially if they know you are not going to shoot at them and have an extra water bottle to spare. Wear your body armor off the FOB and keep your eyes open.
