Some winter actions)))) It was a recovery iced tractor with broken caterpillar... Somewhere around friendly stables.
Was used junk tire from light truck as shock absorber between steel ropes, because was not snatch rope for that load...

It's no problem!!! That is:

V8, 240 HP, atmospheric diesel engine, 990 Nm torque, with mechanical high pressure fuel pump and injectors.
You can see old-school valve covers - with plastic knobs and red star print (factory stamp, that engine checked for military use)

50 Liters of coolant in system (block, core, heater core and preheater ) and 37 Liters of oil xDDDDD

Many of 255's was in civilian service - for geologist, mining, logging, oil producing and etc.
Drivers not like Kraz, because it very hard to servicing in one person. Engine is over 1 ton of weight, each wheel - 250 kG,
gearboxes, transfer cases, axles, hubs, rotors - all of them are gigantic and overweight.
In army, when 20 men or more per truck - sure, can any work to do quick ))))
But at far away, at wild, when driver one to one with truck - any fault can be fatal, especially in winter.

That was first time to use a winch. Not easy too - can say. Metal rope about 23 mm in diameter is looks as spring. It take a drum shape and after unwind you pull it to the tree, and rope try to pull you to the truck ))))))))
