Nothing on either computer. The IE one is well protected from pop-ups, the Firefox machine, well, it runs Firefox so no pop-ups there, period.

Sounds like an adware strike to me. Many of the "critters" that find their way in to your machines can track your browsing habbits, watch what you do, where and how often you visit etc. They can be programmed to "pop up" at a critical time, during the initial visit of a familiar website (due to cookies) and "hi-jack" your surf, making it appear that it is a part of the website you are currently visiting. I would suggest installing ad-aware or a similar spyware removal tool. As stated earlier, lavasoft.com has a great free removal tool. Other anti viruses and such should perform a clean sweep as well.

Also,

as mentioned earlier, using a more secure browser (I.E. Mozilla Firefox) would be a good choice, as is disabling cookies.

Just my 2 cents worth, hope you can squash that "critter" in your machine!

Yep, seen it all to much. My money is on a tracking cookie as said. But going the firefox route with xmarks add-on usually does the trick.

You are infected with a trojan of some kind. You will need to deal with that soon as it is most likely sending way more information than you want out the network port of that machine.

Seriously....go look into something like AdAware. You need to get that system locked down quickly.

I have had very similar, but not at this site. Surveys that look like they belong there because they take the site name out of the URL, and questions that seem logical, yet are like a fortune teller, they fit anywhere. A fellow at work sorted it out for me, the issue was indeed my computer and not the site that I was visiting.

Search "Trend Micro Housecall" on Yahoo or Google.

This is a free search that will tell you what is on your computer and how dangerous it is. It will remove almost anything. I would suggest you go there and run the scan. It will take a while, but it will more than likely clean your computer.

Great service. They are trying to sell their versions of security software, but this service is very nice.

I use AVG for virus protection and Zonealarm for a free firewall. I seldom have problems with my computer, unless one of my kids has been on it and approved something. That stopped when I made myself administrator of my computer and made the kids accounts that were limited.

Digging this thread up due to every time I use a search engine to do any thing with this site it has me go to some survey this is not limited to my computer it happens on a multitude of machines and all of them are squeeky clean.

I have this problem with the government computers at work as well it is only on Steel Soldiers and it uses a capture that you have to close out completly to clear it. it does not matter if I use bing google yahoo etc. it flashes to the SS web site then auto links to a survey and you cant close or back out.

Due tot it not just being my machine i think the problem is here

It drives me nuts Please HELP!!!!!!

It is not an issue with your computer. It is an issue with the forum software as it is loaded on the server, and until the owners fix it that problem will persist.

1. UPDATE your SECURITY SOFTWARE (If you don't have any - SUBSCRIBE to a reputable package.)

2. RUN your SECURITY SOFTWARE to eliminate spyware, adware, trojans and other malicious schtuph.

3. SCHEDULE your SECURITY SOFTWARE to AUTO-RUN OFTEN (Daily as a minimum if you "surf" the internet)

4. If this applies: STAY OFF THE PORN AND GAMLBING SITES !

5. Enjoy your internet experience... and remember to send Mr. Gore a thank you card for his invention.

This happens to most any machine in use including the US Military it can't possibly be every one of those machines and the 4 that I personaly use. It is not adware it is resident here. That is what I am trying to say.

How can it be possible that out of 20is computers I have used int he last 2 weeks they some how all got infected my the exact same thing that only happens when you try to get to Steel Soldiers through a search engine? Heck I have a better chance of hitting the lotto twice in a row than that.

Since my original post I took the ask.com off of the computer and runs scans whenever the computer is idle and haven't had anymore problems on this sight.

My antivirus software is good about alerting me when it finds problems and takes care of them immediately.

Kurt,

Are you talking about blocking the site "ask.com" or actually removing some software. I have the same problem as the others and have scanned for software "ask*.*" and not found anything on my machine. I have also blocked "ask.com" in my browsers and "myfilestore.com" and it still does the re-direct!
