It now has a GA tag. For those who wish to register an MV in GA, you will encounter very few problems. The first thing you need is a form from the tag office so that a deputy from the sheriff's office can record your VIN information. This took the officer about 5 phone calls as to whether he could use the ID number on the data plate. He of course used the serial number and the registration number off the data plate to get a 17 digit VIN which of course is incorrect. I tried to explain but didn't want to argue too much as I know I needed a tag. Next, make sure you've got the info correct on your insurance cards. Insuring the truck with only the invoice, I had mistakenly id'd it as a 1970 AM General truck and used a weird number off the GL Invoice as the VIN. I got that corrected. Now the Georgia DMV has a great system for tracking VIN numbers but does not recognize a VIN that is made up incorrectly or has never been in the system so you've got some smooth talking to do with the person at the tag office. Then there is the describing of the vehicle so that it will allow you to put the correct name and nomenclature in. Luckily, the lady I was working with had nearly melted a gasket at this point and let me look at the screen and choose what I wanted the truck registered as. I chose AM General, Mulitpurpose Vehicle and got to enter M35A2 as there was no other way to describe it and we had to do a manual entry. Now my tag receipt reads AMGR M35A2 MP with a valuation of $400. Good thing on the low valuation, my tag will only cost $32 this year when it's time to renew. While checking all the numbers, I got some good news though, the motor was manufactured in Feb. of 1990!!!!!!!!!! I was looking around trying to establish the year it was built but settled on 1971 due to the registration number. In all, it took about 4 hours, 20 phone calls and one very mad lady at the tag office. I even got one of those Hobby / Antique Vehicle tags with the picture of the Model T on it!!!! I still don't have a title to the truck but, I'm street legal and since I have no plans of selling it, a title will never cross my mind!!!
