I just wanted to say thanks for this forum being such a great resource.
The story began as I was driving down the road and my gauges started bouncing around everywhere. I figured it was a ground issue. I reached up behind the dash and wiggled the wires a little bit and the gauges started working just fine. Then it happened again and then they stopped working all together. Anyway, I looked up behind there and couldn't really tell that anything was the matter. So, I searched the forums. I did several searches and finally found a thread that gave descriptions of where all the numbered wires went to, which were supposed to be hot, etc.
I even searched for "spider" as I didn't know what else to call that thing behind the dash that distributes power (I initially thought it was a ground). Anyway, I learned about all the wiring behind the dash on these trucks and found out that my spider didn't have power. It turns out that the 27 wire that goes into the spider, at the connection to the spider had came loose. I suppose someone along the way had unplugged it and hadn't put it back together all the way. Eventually it vibrated apart enough to lose connection. So, plugged it back in and all voila, all my gauges work. I'm not sure I would have ever figured this out without these forums.
Thank you all again!!
