Tire comparison picture

I cant remember who asked me for this but here is a picture comparison of
the 9.00-20 NDCC(left) and the 11.00R20 XL.

You may not have known it, but there was a larger size NDCC tire made, the 16R20 or 16-20 NDCC used on the XM757/M656/XM791 8x8 trucks. It's a low profile radial on a 12 inch wide rim here shown with the 900-20 NDCC. Designed for tubeless operation and only 30psi on the highway.
They measure about 44 inches in dia and are 15 wide.
To replace them I'll have to find 395/85R20 or similar.

It is basically the same pattern on both tires and the same 20" wheel (rim)diameter.

Bjorn, the 14.50R20's I picked up are right at 44" tall and 14" -15" wide. They might be what you need. The 395's would also work, I think they are 45-46" tall.

Yeah, it is a handy reference pic but next time I will include the 900x20 NDCC, Michelin XL 1100R20, Michelin XL 14.5R20 and get all the tires on level ground. I have all of these size tires currently in operation.

I think you are correct Robert, the 14.50r20 uses a wider rim, 11 to 12 inches which is perfect for the xm757. the 395/85r20 is spec'ed for a 10 inch rim. According to the michelin data sheet, they are both rated at 55-56 mph max.

How much did you fork out for those and who carries them?

Yes, it would be nice to see where the 9:00-20 stacks up. The OD and width the various tires would help too, as a standard Deuce is pretty much limited to 46" diameter tires. I'd like to get the max width in a 46" diameter tire to run super singles.

I went after 6 for $300, ended up with 9 for $350. Then got 6 of the 10" flaps for $10 each. Got them from a guy in Phenix City Al. I got all he had. Can't remember his E-Bay handle, but he always gives his location as 100 miles S of Atlanta. I have 2 75% tires, the rest are 40-45%. Fine for my use.

As far as I know, you really only have 2 options in a 46" tire. Either a Michelin XML 395/85R20 or Michelin Pilote G-20 XL 15.5/80R20. There are effectively the same width(15.5") with different tread patterns and load ranges (ply).

Those are nice tires, I would definatly put those on the future/yet to be built XM828A2 (custom long wheelbase 5 ton tractor of my own design see post).

Left to right in each pic,

1800R33 GOER tire
1400 X 24 10 ton tire
1100 X 20 tire(no rim)
900 X 20 Deuce tire
700 X 16 1/4 ton tire

Sorry,didn't have any 900 X 16s laying around,the small stick standing next to the GOER tire is a 12 lb sledgehammer with a 38 in long handle(for comparison).
