Just loaded up my 20 foot work bench from my old garage. We even left the huge vice and grinder attached. Ran a 4 x 4 across the sides in the back and then tossed the 3000 lbs bed winch cable over it and down to the bench which was on it's side. A couple people helped lift and guide it in. Once the heavy end was in we shifted to the other end to pick it up while the winch drug it aboard.

That winch in the bed is pretty handy.

It's not exactly mine, but our little department is proud of it. It sure saves alot of abuse on our other more fragile trucks. I just wish it didn't take so long to get it to the fires. We're thinkin maybe we should switch to super singles?

She's not really a deuce but she makes towing 20,000lbs of wood on an 8,000lb trailer from back in the wilderness alot easier than with my F-250.

Not to go terribly off topic, but you should check this thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/73140-tire-size-mph.html

Noticed this was your first post, welcome to the forum!

To sinopsize the other thread, you can go with the super singles, a great rout. However, some will tell you that it is dangorus because of the bead without getting custom wheels, or re-centered hemmets wheels.

Also, leverage tells us that this gives the brakes less advantage, and as you know, our brakes on these truck are questionable at best. Add in that you have the large water tank? ****.

There is a member that sells an aftermarket kit to change your 5th gear ratio, allowing for higher speeds.

All that being said, I am putting 395 "Super singles" (46' tall) on my truck, using the stock Deuce wheels. I have seen it done on other trucks with no problem. Other members will tell you its deadly.

Im sorry, its a firetruck and its cool!!!!

Nice truck! what takes time on the way to the fire?
long distances on highway speed or many brake /accelerating maneuvers?
in the first case bigger tires will help, in the second its get worse.

install a pyro and turn up the fuel.....just my 2 cents.

Pulled a tree off the roof of my house after it fell over and pressed against the roof, several windows, and threatened to smash two A/C units if I cut it with a chain saw. With the help of my Deuce, I pulled the tree off the roof without causing any more damage than the original fall had already created. Thanks to the 200 ft. long winch cable, I could keep the truck on the road and did not have to drive on the soft ground. I would have tried to move the tree with my tractor and a long rope if I hadn't had the Deuce readily available but I'm sure I would have left deep tire marks in the ground.
Get a Deuce if you don't already have one. You don't know when you will need one.

I haven't taken delivery of my deuce yet, but someone had questioned what I could possibly do with such a truck. So I searched YouTube for possible answers, and here they are. If you see your truck in one of the videos, give a shout!

Funny, I was going to do the exact thing with my deuce. It should fit 2 ATVs, and 2 dirtbike. I love the idea of the camper with the vinyl cover also. One thing though, what kind of ramps do you have?
I keep forgetting to snag a pic of them. They are made by LUND, 9ft bi-fold aluminum ramps with a 1500lb distributed load capacity. The angle at 9 ft is not bad at all and they are curved at the top. Search Google I'm sure you can find them.
