Well,after trying to start up today after standing for 3 weeks,the batts were flat.So I slaved it.All good,it started.A bit of squeeling belt and relay chatter later.Smoke pouring out the open hood.Switched off and quickly disconnected the batts.The top post of the relay was smoking.Luckily no wires burnt.Took out the relay and put in the original stock relay.Started up and "hey presto" all ok and charging properly and no hot resistor.I did check the other relay before fitting it (that caught fire) that it did not earth out to the body.Lucky escape there.
