We live about 500 feet above sea level, this was a camping trip in the mountains. If we had to tow anything more than about 100 miles I'd most likely use the Cummins powered RAM.Not to mention the elevation sucks a fair amount of power away from an engine that already isn't known for being a powerhouse. Might be pretty limited on towing capacity because of that.
On the plus side, looks like you already have a proper hitch. I wouldn't trust a stock pintle much over 1,000 lbs.
Because my truck doesn't have its factory bumpers I don't have the pintle hitch. We just put that hitch on last week, its a Curt brand, rated for 10,000lbs. Got it for only $120 on Amazon too.
