Well i read alot of manuals and called my DMV special plate division and now its all done the picture is the final product just my registaition back. The DMV really only wanted the first 7 Digits of the VIN stencil in 2" letters in white or yellow i tried to make up my own numbers but that didnt work. I had three cops following me today and they didnt pull me over so so for so good.
This creates a huge problem for every other M1009 owner in LA. Every single M1009 has the same first 7 characters in the VIN. Guess you are the only one getting your truck registered in the fashion. A better method would have been to use the military registration numbers on the lower line of the data plate.

Same as the M1008s as well. I will go by DMV in Red Stick when I get ready to register mine and see if they will accept the first 7 NUMBERS on the vin number. I can't see 100 M1008s running on the road with all the same numbers...

Wow!! Thats crazy. Yesterday it was 2-Calcasieu and 1-state trooper the trooper followed me for 3 miles I just knew he was going to pull me over but he didn't. But yeah I have all paper work valid to be on the road so I'm not worried just don't want to get harrased. But everything is all good no problems.
Yeah, the Sheriff Dept and the State guys are really nice down here, you might want to stop by one and talk with them. Or next time, just pull over and see if the follow, have a nice chat, usually works. I used to work in a casino and parked my deuce in the overflow lot, had all of the locals and even some feds stopped by and take a look-see. Once they know you, no problems...

Yeah I understand the concern. But it's what ever they want. I had made up my own #'s at first and called DMV and told them what I had and what I was about to send in and the lady on the phone said no I don't think so and asked her supervisor and then she told me what #s to put on the truck. The 1G***** which is on the truck now . Yeah my best friend is a Calcasieu cop he said I shouldnt have any problems except for a few younger cops who don't know. I had a sheriff follow me so close last night I coulded even see his head lights so I got nervous and turned off.

A Old Update.

My M1009 now has the LAST 7 numbers on the registration. Not the FIRST 7 like they ask for. It does turn out that
all first 7 numbers are the same. But its done now. While i had them on the phone I ask about my M101A2 trailer and gave them the first 7 letters and numbers and they said that was good to go. I had to do a post vehicle inspection first at the state police. So i sent them a pitcure and some money now awaiting my paper work on the trailer Its about $45 for each registration LIFETIME.

My truck has been registered for 16 years using the military registration number. The numbers are 1.5 high as described in the above listed manual for 3 color camo, first generation paint scheme. Stencils by Rick Larsen any time I need one and he does a great job. Just to balance it out I placed my last active duty unit number on the right side in the sand colored block.

NFO4J4 is the military registration number for my truck. The law says VIN but I used this as it could never be duplicated and is also on the same data plate as pictured in above post.

Permanent registration number and don't ever have to renew it.
No "stinking" license plate to goof up the look of the truck (yuk).

Everyone in states not having this rule should get this rule passed in your state.
