Would anyone know where, in this area, I could find at Least one 1400R20 XL tire? Four of the tires are dry rotted on the side walls. One is almost new and the spare is brand spanking new. The final tire is a steering tire And is dry rotted, Bulging and almost popping apart. I am having "Commercial OK Tires" in Bizmark put my spare on tomorrow morning. The other three I am going to hope for the best. Unless..... Someone knows of somewhere around here to get some used but good tires. I called around and nobody has one within a weeks arrival and still would cost $1800 for ONE tire. Pfft. Yeah, right. One guy has some 50% tread tires with checking around the lugs but none on the side walls. I may do those as a last resort. $200 a piece. Not bad but still checked around the lugs. That's better than the side wall though. So, is there anyone around this area that has a couple of decent tires of the 1400R20 XL style they might want to sell? It's a Hail Mary but I figured I would ask. I am spending the night in the cab but will come into the truckers lounge and check in every so often. I will gladly PM my number to anyone interested. Thanks guys. OH, I absolutely LOVE my new to me M934A2. It is great. I will post more info and pics when I get home in a few days. I still have around 20 hours of driving ahead of me.

You should probably keep one thread going for your recovery so all the information is in one thread , rather than starting a new thread with each problem . It may be a good idea to post the rest of your route to see what members are along it .

Good idea porky. I am heading to Bonners ferry, Idaho. I am following hwy 94 through Montana. I may head north ijust inside Montana and take hwy 2. It has a fewer high incline hill climbs. I will decide in the morning. No, nvm, I am going to.take hwy 2. It is a little windier but long slow inclines are much easier to deal with in this rig than long steep inclines.

XLs are known as prone to blow the sidewalls. If given a choice, select other tire models, especially for the steer axle.

My personal preferences are XZLs as first choice, and AT2s as 2nd choice.

You may consider changing all 7 tires to 395 XZLs once you get it home.

If you end up dead on the side of the road, post a yell for help in the conversation forum as that'll get a faster response.

Thanks I didn't know what other options I had yet. I didn't get around to that. Excellent help there. I will go online and search for similar sized and rated tires as well just for options I may have access to.

If they have not been sitting flat, you should be OK. It's the sitting flat that causes the sidewall to severely weaken and blow out. Change the crappy one like you said, keep the speed under 50, and you should make it.

Also make sure the tires have proper highway pressure as a low tire will be much more prone to a blowout due to the increased heat buildup from the sidewall flexing more.

Thanks Karl, I will if needed.

The CTIS is working. It wasn't initially. When it started working is when that heavy damage was really exposed.

Those tires iin the EBay link are the 50% checked lug ones I may pickup. I talked to Steve the owner. Nice guy and has several that may be okay. I need to take a close look and see how much better they may be than what I have. Check-wise they sound better. I am going to take a look tomorrow. Crossing my fingers.

(Update), I called him twice the next morning and got no answer. I waited until 10:30am but I had to get going and he was still 3 hours in the wrong direction. So I did not get the tires. To bad for me, I really could have used them, badly. Read on and you will see why.

I am now stuck in Glendive, Montana.

The towing company lost a part off the front rear axle. There is a spacer or balancer between the drive shaft and where it connects to the axle. It is round and larger than the pto connection. Is that important? What is it? And finally, how much does one cost to replace?

I am am a tad upset at this point. Time for a trailer to take it the rest of the way. I will explain later. I am going out to help find this thing. They think they know where it came off and rolled across the highway. Be back soon and wish me luck!

I believe that is a counterweight to balance the driveshaft and vibration dampen. I believe I have one off a m936a2 if it is the same? Let me know via pm?

My phone was dead. No where to charge in the 934. My extra battery is dead as well. I am in a hotel now so yippy, I can charge it now. I hate auto correct at times. Like when I am tired.

Artisan, THAT is it. That is what went shooting across the highway into a giant canyon. The wrecker guy following us saw it fly off but didn't stop to pick it up or mark the direction it went. The supervisor is a tad angry with him.

OK SO the driveshaft between the Tranny abd T/C was dropped and
they did not temp bolt down the Dampner I am assuming. If so
THEY are 100% responsible in my book.

I am sorry your having troubles. Get her home, things will get better.

Alex at www.idahomotorpool.com is sorta close to you I "think" .
he may have parts AND he can refer to a tow co if necessary.

So yes, it is important. Thanks.

This has not gone well. I mean, mechanically the truck is fine. The tires suck.

My spare however is an XZL and brand new. It is fine. The wheel of the second blowout I think is okay. I will know more tomorrow. The three remaining tires are heavily checked around the wheel and lugs. I am having it trailered the rest of the way home. About 700 miles. I called Greg as suggested earlier. left a message.
