I just recently bought a very nice 2008 M1165A1, 6.5L Turbo with 4L80E Transmission. Not sure what the water pump needs to be, but I'm changing out the fan and want to go ahead and install a new WP while I'm in it. Planning to install without taking complete front end off. What is the part number and where can I get the correct pump at ?

I appreciate any information , as I am a NEW Hmmwv owner as of about 3 weeks ago :)) Going to love it too...

Also, where is the location of the engine ID so I can determine what motor/ design it is?
RWH is correct, if the water pump is not leaking there is no logical reason to replace it, the new pump may not last as long as the original and there is always the can of worms syndrome

So your just Willy nilly going to replace the water pump for no apparent reason? And being it’s not a REV, you’re going to replace the fan and WP without removing the radiator stack? Alrighty then….
Thanks....1st Hmmwv or whatever the correct way tp say it is., but I haven't had long and don't know much about them. Worked on cars since I was 14. Engine swaps, tranny etc... had to do what I had to do. I learned plenty. But asking questions here because what Ive read there seems to be very knowledgeable people that gladly share their experience and information. So, that being said, Im doing what I'm doing. With help or not from here. Again, thanks for seeing my post and responding.

Retiredwarhorses was trying to help you, he has more HMMWV experience than anyone else (on this forum AFAIK) and has changed MANY water pumps.
Replacing the water pump without removing the stack is ill advised and removing the stack will also give you the chance to inspect everything.
Many have tried it and I suppose some have succeeded but I will bet all will admit in the end they wish they had removed the stack.

His experience is absolutely appreciated ! And I appreciate all advice. The small amount I know and learned, these aren't for everyone to work on.
Or I'm just getting out of practice.... truer everyday. My back hurts from up/ down and everything else for messing around on it yesterday. Appreciate you guys..:)
