What did you do to your deuce this week?

Installed a new drivers side windshield wiper motor. Now theres just a little amount of air needed to work the new motor, but alot more air to operate the old one, and so the new one goes scarry fast! Supplier told me to administer a few drops of air tool oil to the older motor thru ther hose connection, and that it would loosen it up a bit. . I will try that tomorrow

Well today was a good day. I went to pull off the spare tire mount, and found it would be virtually impossible without pulling the air tanks out. The bed is off so I can get to the bolts. NONE of them stripped out, that's gotta be a first. All the air line fittings came off easily too. There was a LOT of rust on the frame and the back of the spare bracket, got it all cleaned off and put rust converter on it until I can get primer on it. I'll be able to sandblast the frame now behind the tanks, and paint the tanks and brackets. Just got to find a cheap sandblast gun. The last one I had, you can't get ceramic nozzles for anywhere. I got the duals off so the frame behind the cab is ready to go. I'm going to put a couple of grade 8 washers in between the spare tire bracket and the frame so dirt and water won't collect there.

Replaced the batteries led light selector switch and flasher module in order to drive it to get the state inspection. Tested the lights and had a brake line blowout. not a brake hose the front rear axle right hand line shooting Dot 5 like a water gun. Another project on my to do list.

Had a very very slight miss and puff of smoke at idle so I put new injector in #1 cyl than went down the line putting replaced injector in next cyl ( put old #1 injector into #2 cyl etc etc ) and found problem in #5 injector, runs better now.

Finally got the interior of the cab painted. Trying to get the spring seat finished and reassembled so I can drive it to the car show Saturday. Before and after shots.

NOOOOOOO!!!!! it will work for a short time then lock solid as the air tool oil swells the o-rings too much!!!

He is right. Oiled mine and had to rebuild it. Instead take the hose off the fast one and insert some kind of plastic Nipple into the hose and reattach it. It will restrict the air flow and slow it down. A small valve would also work and make the speed adjustable.

C & C Equip Window Replacement

I removed the glass from the old frame as I had a new windshield glass, blasted the frame and noticed lots of various sized pinholes in the metal. I was just going to replace the glass until I discovered that. Bit the bullet and bought a new windshield from C & C Equipment. Very good quality glass and frame, well protected and packed for shipping. I blasted the wiper, wiper arm, air motor and painted them flat black...now to do the other side.

Did the replacement actually fit properly? I have one that didn't and it started to weep rust from the lower outboard corner within 90 days to boot.

I don't mind paying for the replacement but it irritates me to buy junk. I'd like to find a reliable supplier.

Got the seat base and frame assembled and installed today. Picked up all stainless hardware to mount the new data plates.

Finished installing the insulation, foam insulation in the gaps and finally a coat of chassis saver paint on the bed prior to sub floor install in the morning, and then fab some solar panel mounts to roof. Busy weeks, forward progress is good.

I bought a pair from Erik's Surplus over a year ago. They fit fine and no rust or other problems. I've never had a problem with Erik and he knows a lot about what he sells.

Got the driver's seat bolted in just in time to enter it in the local Franklin, KY car show. Kinda stood out. All the kids loved it. A lot of little boys wanted their picture with it. Had several veterans talk about their days in a deuce. It was an awesome day.

We have an awesome show every year. Any MV owners are welcome to attend. It would be nice to have a few join me each year. We have 200 plus cars each year, all classes and calibers.

Of course my vote went for an awesome 1948 Jeepster just for the cool factor alone. Very well done, V8, air, power brakes and steering.

Steve, I thought the fit was outstanding, the rubber seals so well it's a little difficult to lock the window. I haven't been in the rain since the replacement, and I don't park my truck outside, but I'm almost positive it won't leak.

Tight fit is understood. The one I installed literally required my buddy to lie on the hood and push it in so I could latch it.
