What did you do to your deuce this week?

I knocked out a few thing that I have been wanting to do:

- I upgraded my old rusty battery box to the plastic type that I bought at the Georgia rally. I heard that the Group 31 batteries wouldn't fit, but they do if you remove the locking handle screws and install them from the inside - at least that worked with mine.
- I installed the MRAP mirrors that I also bought at the Georgia rally.
- I finally fixed my turn signal issue by replacing the flasher with a used one I bought. I took the oldnflasher off of the deuce and installed it on my Jeep - it didn't work there either. I previously replaced the turn signal switch with a new one because you could tap on the switch and they would start flashing - one of the mounting tabs was broken anyway.
- I changed my secondary fuel filters.

I might work on installing my used electric windshield wipers tomorrow. I painted them tan the other day - all I have to do is get started on them now! I also have the windshield washer and defrost deflectors off of the same M35a3 to install.

Knocked out a few more upgrades today:

- I installed a new 2.5# Amerex fire extinguisher and bracket on top of the tunnel beside the shifter. I also removed the old bracket from the side of the tunnel.
- I upgraded the windshield wipers to electric ones off of an a3. Fairly easy upgrade - the hardest part was drilling the hole for the wiring harness. I still have not installed the arms because I need new blades.
- I installed defroster deflectors off of an a3. Easy upgrade. Used 2 stock holes on the ends, but none of the others lined up - had to drill 4 holes.

Since it was such a nice day and I had the top off, I took a ride to go put some fuel in the truck - got more waves than I normally do!

Broke down two (of the ten) 1100 x 20 G177's off of five ton wheels that will go on my Deuce. One yesterday, one today. OMG, thats a lot of work. Wish I could afford to pay someone else to do it. I'm sure when I ever get to breaking down the ten 900 x 20's they'll be like bicycle tires compared to these monsters.

I would like to know how your electric wiper install goes. My air wipers usually go two different speeds at the same time. The driver's side usually quits all together when I throttle the air down enough to prevent the passenger side wiper from becoming a propeller.

The install was really pretty easy - drilling the hole in the dash was the hardest part I thought. They adjusted out pretty quickly. I haven't used them yet, because I have to order new blades - unless somebody knows the Anco part numbers for the arm/blade upgrade. My air wipers did just the opposite. My driver side worked fine, but you had to turn the knob up pretty far too get the passenger side going, then it came on wide open. I felt for $75 to upgrade to used electrics was a better deal than $125/ea on the air motors!

I finally flat towed my jeep to and from the high desert and also used the deuce as a recovery vehicle out there.
It towed the jeep at 55mph no problem.

I put my M36a2 up for sale :cry:

The reason is I don't drive it anymore, due to lack of time and so on.
Another reason is that I am going to save up for another toy.

All in all it is with mixed feelings....

You could try filling it with 90W and some sort of flush (a bunch of it) and running for a bit to flush it out. An old mechanics trick is to use regular ATF for a spell as it has LOTS of detergent in it. It's a bit thinner than 75-90W, but if you don't act abusive it should be fine. Once you run it a couple hours you can drain it into a clean pan and see what all comes out. You could even use a clean oil filter to filter it and then put it back in for a 2nd flush.
