We did two Veteran's cruises at work on Saturday. I brought the Deuce down to help honor our Veterans. A great time was had by all.

I'll just take the approach of looking for a new tailgate and have this one as back up. But it seems they are not as plentiful as they once were around here..
My parts buddy has new M35 tailgates in the crate. Located in Crestwood KY.

Some pics from my a/c install, showing the two vintage air bracket pieces I used as a starting point which are the two front pieces that have the adjustment built into them. Also shows the rear mount I built that attaches the rear of the compressor to the cyl head. The RH headlight panel brace that had to be modified and relocated, and the most tedious part which was the upper radiator mount that was wanting to occupy the same space as the compressor. BIG thanks to fuzzytoaster for the smoking deal on the compressor. The rest is a vintage air gen IV magnum evap/heater unit, vintage air drier/trinary switch, and a vintage air parallel flow 14"x24" condenser. Ordered all the hose and fittings from vintage air, cut to fit, and my local Napa store crimped them. I'll try to add a finished interior pic tomorrow while staged for the parade. Almost forgot , total cost approx $1450, not too bad I don't think.

I also got the RF fender bodyworked and painted for parade duty, although 80% of the truck still needs painting!!

It's nice and cool, I also got some HET insulation kits from fuzzy to cut up and insulate the cab with. It will be like a meat locker then!!!

Recently bought two sets of flags for "parade duty". Got a decent deal at Home Depot on those flag sets homeowners like to mount on the side of their houses.
Rigged flag holders for the Deuce and took her out today (July 4th).
I was careful not to exceed 35 mph since going 35 is like putting the flag up in a 35 mph storm.
Both flag poles collapsed.
In the past, I used wooden poles. Never had this issue with them. The one time I hit a low overhanging branch, the wood broke clean off. No damage to truck or flag.
I'm thinking about either going back to wood or get some plumbing pipe.
What do you guys use ?

3/4" EMT, light weight, bends fairly easy when you hit something and can easily be bent back if not kinked.

I'm not so sure about that. He took out a perfectly good mutifuel and replaced it with a Cummins and for what? Six time the power, ten times the longevity and oh ya the convenience of an auto gear box. Just seems foolish to me.If HanksDeuce is behind the idea, then you know that it's been done right.

I don't know if it'll fit the deuce, but doing a little bit of research here, I found 2 threads where people said they took the bed to the crusher and the weight came in south of 1600 lbs. Another thread about the M1078 had their bed at 2360 lbs.
Even if there were some issues about what fittings may or may not have been on the beds that were crushed, at best the beds would weigh the same, but it appears that the deuce bed is probably lighter.

Took the Deuce to the Arizona Celebration of Freedom event for the military vehicle display. Also in attendance were fellow members of this site & the AMVCC. Hot out, but we had shade & The Lord blessed us with a breeze to help out. Had a lot of fun.
