Got them last year from eBay for about the same price one pays for the single IR lights.
Did a little thread on how to convert the IR portion to a second clear light and was staring at them for 10 months before getting around to mounting.

They have a base that mounts to the truck and the whole light assembly itself is instantly removable by loosening a single big locking nut. When you buy one of those lights, make sure it has a base!

Today I went to a local diesel shop and had them drain/refill the oil in the truck. Tomorrow my new oil filters, coolant filters, and coolant filter mount should arrive (assuming UPS is on the ball).

Unfortunately UPS delivers to my area between 6-8pm so I'll have to wait until next week to swap my oil filters and install my coolant filter.

Just curious, why did you drain and refill the oil before swapping oil filters?

UPS was delayed. Originally, my filters were scheduled to be delivered yesterday. I had planned on changing the filters this morning and then taking it in for the oil change this afternoon. Since UPS had a delay, I went ahead and did the oil today and will do the filters when they arrive tomorrow or next week.

Got my truck back from a mechanic today. Had them do some work that I couldn't do, and some work that I could but was too lazy to get to. I still have plenty of other work that needs doing that I will be doing, so I'm not completely lazy, just occasionally.

So, I already installed a bumper platform on the driver's side, and cut a piece of 1/4" diamond plate for the passenger side, but hadn't got around to it.

I installed a new, custom made battery box on sliders, but had them put a bar across the top to keep the batteries from bouncing too much. I still need to secure the box so it doesn't roll out during an accident. A cotter pin, hidden by the door keeps it from sliding out. I'll probably string a cable lock through here for extra security in the future.

Door locks, I had an idea, but they came up with a better one, so I had them install them. The locks are 2 parts: one part welded (they're designed for this) to plates and bolted the plates to the door because the skin of the door was too thin to weld, but the metal of the frame below the door wasn't, so the other part could be welded directly. These locks were originally designed for shipping containers. They're big and beefy and mostly designed to deter unprepared thieves or slow them down. These locks can be left open or closed and the key removed in either case.

Also had an A3 air intake installed with a butterfly shut off. The shut down is electronic, but needs to be manually reset. Might just use it as an additional security measure against theft. That work w/pics is in a thread under Deuce Mods.

For the first time in to long I took the truck for a drive. Hopefully when my lease is up next month I can get out of the apt and start working on it.

Today I changed my oil filters and started my coolant filter install.
Unfortunately, one stubborn 3/4 npt pipe plug is ruining my weekend plans. the upper pipe plug came out without any issues but his big brother is being obstinate. I have been soaking them in PB blaster for a week & I tried applying heat to the housing but no luck. I don't have access to a welder so welding a nut to it isn't an option.

After screwing with it for 2 days, multiple trips to stores, and many many bad words later I finally admitted defeat and ordered the (hopefully) correct tool....a 5/8in 8pt socket off amazon. I would rather shop local but my all local hardware stores, lowes, and home depot didn't have any.

Yesterday we had some severe storms blow through with 1.5in hail and 60mph winds (we are forecasted to have severe storms all week...ugh)

The cargo cover on my truck took a beating and I think it's done. It had been on its last leg for a while and had a repair, on a repair, on a repair...that kind of thing. I may try tinker with it and see if I can save it again for the time being. If not, I'll be in the market for a new top after I save some $$$

I put some flags on my truck and rolled through town, my own little one man parade. I wasn't the only one to have that idea apparently, passed a few old cars, trucks and tractors doing the same thing!

cattlerepairman, that looks like fun. Its amazing how different the lds with d turbo sounds compared to my ldt whistler.

It really comes in handy. On the driver's side I installed a 2-step boat ladder that collapses, fits under the plate and ties with a piece of velcro. It's really nice not worrying about where my shoes are, or if I need to move them and need to check that I don't step off - it's a long way down. I had to climb up and adjust something on the passenger side the other day and it felt so much more secure not having to check my feet.
