Debating a quick restore on my M332 trailer that I purchased from Scrounger before he passed. After a couple years trying to sell it as-is, the only people who have shown interest in it in the condition it's in are landscapers (who will be hating life after they realize it's too heavy for its small size as it can't haul much in the way of mowers, etc. and the brakes aren't compatible with anything they drive), or people offering so little money that I am sure they are scrappers that are just gonna cut it up.

Then I remembered, hey - I'm into restoring military vehicles, maybe I can give it a quick refurb, make it nicer. I might just keep it after that, or maybe find someone who would really appreciate it for what it is. Just something quick - replace the data plates and gladhands, service the brakes. Quick strip/sand/prime/paint. Should only take me a couple weekends, tops, and the finished product would be a lot better for me or someone else.

Debating the paint scheme, I'm leaning toward just simple Vietnam-era 24087 semi gloss with the appropriate stencils or decals. The pics below are - top: my trailer as it sits, and bottom: a pic I found off the web of a 24087-painted M332. Should I go this route, or repaint with the more modern 3-color NATO that it was wearing before it started peeling and rusting?

Any opinions are appreciated.View attachment 941167View attachment 941168

Well... It almost needs to be painted to match the towing vehicle. Not really though because I see desert painted trucks pulling woodland painted trailers. Especially in the Reserve Units around here... That green sure looks good to me

Mounted a 250 gallon IBC tote on my Raytheon prototype Fire Finder Trailer.
Also mounted a pressure washer to make a poor man’s fire fighting machine.
Actually it’s for wetting the embers and not fighting the flames directly. Not enough water or volume for that.
It’s been a deadly wildfire season here in Oklahoma. Threat still exists.

I put the red tip in the sprayer and it does surprisingly well.
Goes out about 30’ and nice volume and coverage.
Should cool things a bit if anything gets close.

Trailer handles the weight without any effort.
It’s mostly aluminum so that’s not surprising.

Side benefit is a Mobil power washer.

Looks like it will carry the weight of water for sure...
Nice plan!

I've never pulled the M1101 with anything other than the Grand Cherokee. The HMMWV is the Prime Mover for it though, and Saturday I need to pick up some HMMWV parts.

First, I had to deal with the ball of little b@stards, saw them swirling around when I was getting ready to connect, and used some 20' hornet spray to evict them.

It pulled really nice. Did some full-lock to lock figure eights in the parking lot and no drama. The tires are a little cracked but should hold.

Nice rig set-up, Mainsail.

Sorry you had to kill the Hornets; left alone, they're very cool animals!

They just didn't know that your Trailer and their Hornet Nest don't play well together.

Moved M101A2 trailers around today. Used the little Ford 1210 Diesel.

Kept them in the sun today in between the storms to burn out the spiders.
Then parked them back in the shade.

Keeping them under trees keeps the sun from destroying the tarps, but then you get the spiders and sometimes wasps.
Double edged sword.

Love the Airstream, AND that little Ford Tractor, Tinstar!

Maybe consider a rollbar for that little Ford (you know, just maybe):

- Lost my cousin years ago to a rollover while he was bush-hogging a slope. Sad. Sad. Sad.

Those blue Fords get it done, for sure. Love 'em!

Sorry for your loss.

You are correct about the roll-bar.
They came with them from the factory but examples are nonexistent around here.
The little ford tractors are few and far between now.

I never mow with it (it came with a 60” mower deck and also a backhoe attachment) and stay away from slopes for that exact reason.

It does a fantastic job with the M101 trailers and also my converted flight line oxygen trailer and flight line towable diesel powered air compressor.
It’s only 16hp but seems MUCH stronger than that.

It’s a 1985 model and the Airstream is a 1986.

Yeah.
I love the old stuff.

Took the Chevy mag wheels off and listed them for sale, put two good HMMWV wheels and tires on the trailer.

Got to looking at it, decided to pull out the pressure washer and wash the outside of the trailer, decided to do the tarp as well, then figured I may as well do the inside of the trailer too.

No more mold/moss on either and the tie down pockets are clean.

While changing the wheels I notices some hornets swarming - they somehow rallied and rebuilt the nest under the trailer. So I went off and did other things until they calmed down. Wife got some spray last time she was in the commissary that says it shoots 27 feet  - the blast knocked it right off the trailer.

All clean and ready to put away, the crookedness of the tarp notwithstanding.

When is the NOLA airshow this year? Would love to attend and see everyone again this year!
I don't believe they are having one this year, but Juan might know more info. There is a show in Hammond, LA in October that I will be putting out some info for us to display our vehicles. I will start a thread when I get more info.
