Huge shoutout to My buddy for the help today, one of the last hurdles after losing dad I had was moving this Winnebago because tow companies wanted NO part of its dry rotted tires. My plan A of driving it out failed, plan B of a frame mounted tow bar failed, but a simple phone call to him and he dropped everything and came out to fab up some tow bar backing-plates to give support to my tow bar mounts recycled from a parts truck of mine and we were off to the races!View attachment 872120

Dang I can't even get "honorable mention" lol Eli always gets the glory. Curious, does your filter minder now get sucked up into the yellow? Mine does and it never did, even on 15 ton mode

Not sure I will take a look when I get back home this weekend. Tbh we didn’t use your file just gave the file name to a guy helping us tune the truck remotely. It was a absolute mess and ended up taking 3-4 hours instead of 15-20min like it should . I do appreciate the file though. One day I will get my hands on the 550+ tune Eli has on his truck but my truck absolutely didn’t want it. Have to take a look at that next time I get it plugged in.

@Elijah95 - That wrecker looks like a matchbox car behind the 7-Ton. Wow! Congrats on the newest truck. Nope… there is no cure!
I've got a 1970 XM816 and a 2003 AMK25.... the 7ton DWARVES the older 5Ton.... which is quite impressive, because the 816 seems like a big truck. I used to think the 14r20s on the 816 were big, but the 16r20s on the MTVR are just massive. I'm just glad to have a truck -built- to take the 16r20s... not overwhelming the brakes, suspension, drivetrain with them

I detailed my truck this last weekend. It looks better but I was just as interested in treating it with chemicals to make it last longer. I am talking about the tires and the cargo cover.

Now the tires and cargo cover look like NEW. The real advantage to me is that it stops the sun from destroying the vinyl and rubber. This is what I used:

Ive been looking for something like this, just hadnt found right product yet. This looks very promising... just ordered some :)

My truck is low use (1200 miles on clock from govplanet) but 20 years old, lots of the rubber / similar items shows dry rot/ uv damage, some of it terminal (already ripped, torn), but some (most??) Looks saveable w the right product. Lots of it looks like heading towards being torn in a few years, but if it could be refreshed somehowit would be fine. Ie, its getting "dry", but not torn, so if it could be "refilled" somehow it would make all the difference.

Im using air quotes" bc i dont know the technical terms. I know one part of aging on some of these products is due to loss of plasticizers, some of which are particularly sensitive to UV. Ive been using a product available at walmart (a rubber / similar material conditioner), but i like the 303 product much more (particularly in form factor - i like the spray botte versus aerosol can... big cost savings probably, but mainly much more precise application). Also, the aerosol product, i think it helps w reconditioning, but dont think it does much for UV protection. I dont think most people really understand how much damage sunlight does.... it doesnt just fade things, it chemically / physically kills things (no scientist here, just observational)

When i look at m MTVR, i think two things 1. Damn i love this thing!! 2. I see all the plastic/rubber items on it that are getting old, and are either very nice to have or absolutely essential... that if they go out its going to be a REAL pain sourcing them. Could take a long time to find, and could be VERY expensive. And, some of the only reasonable priced stuff is NOS stuff off someones shelf... some (most?) of which fulfills the Old part of that saying... so dry rot from storage is issue... item may not be torn yet, but put it into service for very long and it might be. So a restoration / protection product like this 303 could be great to use on those items.

Not sure how much this product does to refresh items in terms of general old age dry rot vs UV damage, but... sounds like this product really helps w the UV side at least, making it worth trying/using

Well, time to stop rambling for a bit, get something useful done...

Joined the 7 ton club and got my first one in this week. Super clean "non-runner" that needed batteries and fuel to start. It was missing the center instrument cluster but would have started and ran without it. Serpentine belt was for an A/C equipped truck and needs the turret cover. Otherwise new engine 2020 and CARC'd in 2022. Stupid wasteful of the gooberment but I'm thankful for an easy first step into the MTVR.

Mine is in process, hope it arrives soon. Glad yours was only simple stuff, I wasn't brave enough to go with a non runner. Sure is a shame the auction process and how almost no effort is put in. Didn't want to deal with a blown engine or tranny.
Do you mind sharing the auction? Curious how they worded it. I went with a running one...not that that is a guarantee of quality https://www.govplanet.com/jsp/s/item/11370136?do=1

I don't want to spoof my chances of landing another yet.. but it does show:

Limited Function Check (DLA Engine)The engine could not be started.

Also there was no video to attempt to crank or start it.

The one minor gripe I have is I won two trucks same day, location, event, and and even model.. and they didn't get processed at the same time despite being the same EUC submission. The GP rep said "they only process 25 applications" a day so somehow 24 applications were submitted between the two trucks I submitted for in the same email. Government magic.

Hello. I purchased one on 23OCT. I submitted my EUC form 10/28, GP reviewed it 31OCT, and submitted it to government on 13NOV. Truck did not turn over when they attempted to start it. Having zero personal experience with these machines, I am hoping and praying replacing the batteries it will start.....wishing and hoping!!! I live 5 hours away from the auction.

Looks pretty solid. There seems to be some funky wiring going on by the pedals and in one of the engine shots. Looking at the volt meter it may very well just be batteries. Good to see "Runs" written on the hood.
