These engines run notoriously low oil pressure. I remember my Dad being concerned with the low oil pressure in our 6.2L diesel Chevrolet that we bought new. The head diesel tech at Chevy said 10psi at hot idle is normal when running straight 30 weight oil (it was 1985). We had that vehicle for 10 years, 150k miles and 0 issues.

I always remember that when I see my HMMWV oil pressure gauge and compare it against anything else I own!
