Who's insuring your 5 ton tractors?

I am looking into getting a 5 ton tractor, probably a M818. How are you guys insuring these trucks? State Farm insures my deuce, but i'm not sure if they'll insure a 5 ton tractor.

Good question, I'm in the same boat sort of, I called today to speak with my regular business ins. agent and....well he needs to get back to me on that one. so while I wait maybe someone could help us both out.

In my case I'm looking to see if the agency offers ins first for those types of trucks, and then maybe I can have my ducks in a row so to speak so that I can bid at GL with a little more confidence.

Each state is different in New Mexico I use Progressive commercial for my m52a2 I'm good for 80.000 pounds and both of my trailers are listed on my policy . Allstate sold me a policy but when I go the policy in the mail it had a 10'000 pound limit . what ever you get make sure you are covered .

I had my M816 insured with Progressive and just insured the M915.

Around 750 a year for a non-commercial policy.

I had my 818 insured with State Farm no problems. I think I was paying about 400.00 a year.

State Farm, only catch is you have to have a trailer for them to write the policy.

I got price quote on my m818 from state farm and they didn't ask me if I had a trailer?

Perhaps there is a year involved. When I went to register my 915 they asked about trailer which I didn't have and they said they can't do Tractor only policy because the nature of the vehicle.

Which is why I bought my M871.

Hum interesting, I wonder why you would need a trailer but we don't, different state laws maybe, for insuring?

I had state farm before in CA.
This time, I am thinking about keeping it with a nice Comp plan, and no continual liability insurance. And just get that for the limited times I drive it.
Honestly, I mainly drive it for parades, showing it off to people, etc.
BUT, I like to cover my butt when I am out and about. I haven't tried it this way yet in WA, but I found one agent that will do it that way.

I have mine insured through USAA to Progressive. USAA has would not insure it due to its size, but they have a deal worked out with Progressive. It is covered as a historic vehicle.

it has to be over 25 years old to be reg. as a antique. i have the rest with alstate so this coming summer ill add the 818 to the policy.
