So after nearly 10 months of restoring the brake system, Making seats and back boards in the back,
Wiring up the lights, and fitting bits and bobs ( Like a re manufactured a fuel tank to original specifications, And re-building the in tank fuel pump!,) to complete what was an unfinished restoration, From Poland,
And with the help of tinygpw and tinygpw11, who moved all the vehicles around to enable me to get the truck out for a test drive...Came the moment to start it up.
Full choke, Switched on, Pulled the starter lever..I mean WOW! it fired up and ran FIRST pull of the lever.
With guidence squeezed it out passed the Packard (We had pushed to a new parking spot (disabled and waiting for a carburetor rebuild)),
Tried to turn the steering to clear thins, Coudnt, the pain in my right shoulder was just too horrible, But seeing me struggle tiny gpw11 jumped into the passenger side and helped pull the steering wheel to enable about 4 shunts.
Lots of growling and shuddering! (Oh what the heck is that??), Anyway pulled up outside the barn, did a walk round, Got back in, Hi range, apply the power pedal,, Crikey..THAT THING TOOK OFF!!,
The gears shifted perfectly, the brakes were fine, the engine Smooth as silk, and so powerful (And, pleasingly loud and almost scary as it took off!).
Drove round the barns a couple of times, tiny gpw22 riding with me commented, " You are really happy", You are grinning like a cheshire cat!".
And so I was..It was an absolute buzz,
The kid said, " Woah, I can't believe it went as quick as that",
I am so happy I kid you not, All the work and pain (S), WELL worth it.
WE can't wait to take it for a longer drive. Perhaps in the snow...HEAVY snow is forecast for tomorrow,
I can't wait..the jeep, (Of many years), the OT65 FUG, and now the GMC M135 are all ready and waiting to 'play!'.
Pictures will follow tomorrow.

Yes the GMCs are quite peppy until you get up to around 40 mph, going from 40 to 58 mph against the governor can take a while. You probably have the only M series GMC in GB.
Thank you, A few people have pointed out I have the only.....A.M. General M45 530C TFFT in the U.K....err..AND, the only detroit engined, Power steered, 18 speed Diamont T M20..in the..U.K. AND the only Packard 8 165 H.P. custom super clipper. In the ..U.K. The only CPT-22 Tank trailer..in...OH!, AND the ONLY O.T. 65 FUG..in the...! and of course the only GMC M135 troop in the country.
( In answer to the question..I usually tell people that.."Well some people collect stamps"..).
Often I stand in the barn and just look at my collection, not quite believing I have it..all.

Congratulations. The good part is well worth the effort it took. To have your "tiny's" be a part of it, no words can describe.
Ha! but then they get to experience things that other kids can never have the opportunity to..(Mores the pity). tinygpw and bennym45 'commanding' my F.V. 432 to the town at war and peace revival two years ag0..(Seems like a lifetime). An d now nothing..so sad, Depressing And frustrating.

And my right arm..my mechanic, helper, electrician..Painter,..Most of all 'A ray of light around the place'.
.....Even if he did drop a screw down the carburetor inlet of the Packard!
A job to do...
Well I can tell you I NEVER dropped a screw or bolt or nut or clip or anything into something I had to spend hours to retrieve. Nope, not me...😜

Thank Our Lord in Heaven that it wasnt stainless..one of my guys at the drydock did that in a flywhell housing...stainless.. at 6:30pm. Didnt tell me till 10:30..15 minutes before end of shift. Lucky for him it was in a spot i could see it AND fish it out. He scraped mussels and cleaned grease for a few days..for not telling me right away.

I don't generally believe in "luck" but in this case, there was something magical that the stainless part didn't move!

Sometimes its like a round of "plinko" from the Price Is Right. Happened with an old cellphone of mine. was working on changing the head gasket in my M37. Phone slipped out of my left chest pocket, bounced off the block deck, off the inner fender, off the side of the block, Frame rail, oil pan, axle housing and *sploosh* into a bucket of coolant under the truck. Just about broke a hip trying to climb outa the engine compartment to retrieve it asap.
Battery out and into a ziploc of rice and all was well a couple of days later. I've lost count of how many things have dissapeared into the abyss of ships bilges..never to be seen again. Sure is nice when you get lucky with an important one.

Unfortunately one of the members did not recognize the fact the screw was non magnetic!. And tried to 'help!'.
And after prodding around has pushed the b...Y thing out of sight..
I will try and find it again with the bore scope I just received from amazon.
Had he left well alone, I would have vacuumed the thing out.
I will try to locate it again first tomorrow.
Today I fitted a slave receptacle to the O.T. 65, FUG to enable jump starts
( Either way ), and charging.

Ahhh... Sometimes "help" isn't as much as it might be.
Good news is nothing is broken so all is not lost

I imagine that you turned that situation into a learning experience.
Still - All good!
