the brackets, are only used to set the push bar on, to extend the boob extension.

Once extended, you pin the extension with 2 large(about 2" pins) though the side of the boom. Then the push bar is unneeded.

To collapse, you unpin the 2 pins and use the hoist cable to pull the extension back into the boom(with the hook lifted up tight to the boom). Then you replace the 2 large pins into the boom.
really ????

Okay another silly question but wouldn't it clear the trailer better and make more sense to have the supports on the front boom post, it looks like the only reason to have them on the rear positions is for a heavy lift.

If your not going to pull a trailer, it does not matter, I like the looks of the rear mount better then the forward mount holes

Bed box?

Jeff etc, hadn't noticed this before, but just saw this in a GL pic. Chequer plate box behind crane. Is this fixed (purpose?) or is this something just dropped there..

..... Any ideas?

Would be a nice addition for the 816. ;-)

EDIT: found another pic on GL. I guess it covers something on the winch - where the 816 winch/crane/clutch controls are...

Yeah not sure if there is room there or not on the M-816 will look and see I do have the treadplate box shaped cover that's on the passenger rear side of a M-936 and will probably use it on my M-816

Yes on the 816 you could put a box to the left of the winch controls, looks like a standard tool box will set there nicely. On the 936 those covers are for just a few hydraulic lines and could be covered and still be used as a tool box/ storage area. And as promised here are the pics of the plugs on the top of the rear fairlead.
