No information but the bumper numbers are for the 475th Quartermaster Group and was towed by the group operations section. They are located in Ferrall, PA.

Oh wise and munificient CARNAC, I have a conundrum for you. My 1972 M35A2, which you have already identified to the 835th engineers, ND NG has a rather odd identification code underneath the last coat of paint applied by the 835th. The number/letter combination is a follows: WPIETO D0008. It is on the front bumper, the tailgate, both doors and on the left and right hand sides of the bed. What in the world did this one come from? Seems like it's the 8th one out of ?? but what...???

That is the SUN number from when the vehicle deployed. It is only used temporarily for being shipped home.

I found NO numbers stamped into the frame on the drivers side at all. Just that one number stamped into the frame on the passenger side. I think the second to last pic is the "bumper number", but not sure. I also have this faded scanner tag that they had JUST started using when I got out. I'll blow it up on the computer and see if I can make out the numbers. My eyes are not what they used to be.

It appears this truck was USMC and I wouldn't have any information on it.

I edited and added the second NSN number as the first is actualy FSN number and I read that the NSN number is the same but you add the two zeros in. I hope ths isn't confusing for you.

Doesn't give me the information I need to go on.

Your bumper numbers say 4th Squadron 16th Cavalry, Headquarters and Headquarters Troop number 902. That doesn't mean they had 902 vehicles.

You need to check both sides of the vehicle. The serial number is on the frame above the wheel on the left or right side of the vehicle.

Well, i went out there with an Led light and unless its coated with lots of paint so i can't see it, there is no numbers stamped on the frame.
But, maybe theres hope on a new(er) data plate that the truck went through a restoration program theres an id number- 4k7307012532637 So maybe this might be the number that was stamped on the frame before being coated with carc paint. Thanks CARNAC for taking time out of your day for me again!
