Have you pressure tested the cooling system or check for combustion products in the cooling system ?

Not yet. I've been eyeing the harbor freight kit for $85 though.
So I drove it around today again. Didnt really see a fluctuation in the coolant height. I am now parking it in the same spot to check the height. I didnt take it down the highway though.

I realized that my dam manifold heater is leaking again, and that's what I see running down the block. I don't have a leak from the head.

So I followed Lt. Dan's instructions and eliminated the stupid thing.

Going to monitor the coolant situation though.

Is it normal to have that milkshake in the valve cover though? I only drive the truck about 50 miles a week, or one day.

Good move.... That thing is a PIA. I just cleaned my engine and I didn't notice a milky residue on the oil cap.

The plug on the front of the ip was a real pain to get to. The winch drive shaft was in the way.

I also disconnected the oil pressure gauge and put a mechanical gauge in its place. Ill tee it later. I was getting 0 psi at hot idle with the stock gauge setup.

The mechanical gauge shows 20 at hot idle, so that's at least one less thing to worry about.

Yes sir it was..... I didn't even have a winch driveshaft in the way. I used a long ball hex socket.

Just a word of caution , IF you are getting coolant in the oil , do not drive the vehicle much if at all , NOTHING takes out engine bearings as fast as anti freeze diluted engine oil That coolant just takes the Babbitt right off the bearings like nothing else .

Picked up the radiator pressure tester from harbor freight for 70$ Actually a pretty nice kit. I only need a small portion of it though.

I pulled the injectors and pressurized to 10lbs and let it sit for a couple hours.

Results?

Hose leaks. No coolant in the cylinders. I cranked it and saw no coolant. I was seeing a drip every 10 seconds or so. This doesnt add up to the coolant loss I was seeing, but it might leAk worse when driving.

I guess the coolant is flashing off or only leaks when im driving. Kind of anti climatic but I will changes the hoses later and hope for the best.

Yeah but your pressuring the cylinders pushing the coolant out so if you have hose leaks while doing that you have head gasket leak some where.

I don't follow. What do you mean?

I pressurized the coolant system revealing hose leaks. If I had a head gasket leak causing coolant to find its way into the combustion chamber, it should have come out the injector hole. No?

I have no evidence of coolant on the dipstick.

The pressure goes onto the radiator cap.

Oh i miss understood what you said..... you said you pulled the injector pressurizing to 10 psi so i assumed you pressurized the cylinder.

So I got it all buttoned up and ran it. I think it leaks out the front hoses and the fan just evaporates it. Im gonna just drive the thing and stop looking for problems.

Smart plan, I drive mine now every day so I'm getting paranoid and checking every little thing. I found a head gasket oil leak, a trans leak, a transfer case leak, possible a brake fluid leak (or its power steering fluid making its way down the frame), a front axle seal leak, a oil pan leak....I think I was better off just adding fluids and not asking questions. The power steering one was the only bad one and I got it stopped but man do these things like sweat out fluids.

I think my thermostat is bad.... I got mine all buttoned back up and the truck is idling around 200° but the radiator is cold.....

Other than brake system leaks, if it isn't making a puddle on the ground don't worry about it.

Picked up a used playscape off craigslist this past weekend for my kids. Using the deuce makes the experience that much better. Better allows me to justify owning the truck to my wife when I can pick up cool stuff for the kids.

Anyone know what size the castle nut is on the back of the pintle? I have a hitch adapter from TM America that bolts up there, and need to order the correct socket to remove that huge nut.
