You no doubt feel the pain, but hope it makes you feel better that I've seen radiators that almost looked in OPPOSITE shape (a small patch of UN-crushed fins) that were still operational (but obviously not at top efficiency).Installed radiator drain cock. Bonus: the damage done by failure to plan.View attachment 582151
If it was 46 years old, damaged and operational, I'd be ecstatic. But this one is brand new with zero miles on it. Such is life...You no doubt feel the pain, but hope it makes you feel better that I've seen radiators that almost looked in OPPOSITE shape (a small patch of UN-crushed fins) that were still operational (but obviously not at top efficiency).
I would only use it on an engine that is on it's last legs and your trying to keep it alive a little longer. If your engine is smoking real bad due to the piston oil rings being clogged up it can do a pretty good job of cleaning them up. It "can" also cause some severe damage to the bearings and cam, as it can literally "clean up" the engine oil from the bearings and cam surfaces .That's why it's called the "poor mans engine cleaner" . If your going to be rebuilding the engine it works great to help "preclean" it.Wondering if there's ever a reason NOT to do this:
-Anything negative about this "trick", rusty stud?
It looks like you got enough Rubber there, Aussie Bloke, to run that new Deuce of yours ragged!

Why don't you buy a fin comb? I use them all the time at work (HVAC.) That way you can straighten all of them out, or at least make it look a little better..If it was 46 years old, damaged and operational, I'd be ecstatic. But this one is brand new with zero miles on it. Such is life...
Straightening the fins won't fix the holes in the tubes. Why don't you buy a fin comb? I use them all the time at work (HVAC.) That way you can straighten all of them out, or at least make it look a little better..
Ooops. That is a problem. I can't remember you mentioning THAT detail.Straightening the fins won't fix the holes in the tubes.
It's all good. Post 4020.Ooops. That is a problem. I can't remember you mentioning THAT detail.
Just bought a radiator drain cock so I can finish the installation of the new radiator... after I solder up the hole from the damage caused by not properly protecting it while transporting it 1500 miles in the back of a truck.
