Honestly the whole driveshaft needs replacing anyway.I have used a product called friction grip drops. It's a paste that you put on the bolt and it increases the friction, this way your 6 point socket has more leverage.
Worked like a charm for me. I also used some penetrating fluid.
That makes absolutely no sense...but like your HMMWV adventures, I suspect this will be no different.Getting towed to the auto shop is problematic cause the base police aren't too keen on moving the vehicle.
Yeah I found a guys write up on the flywheel replacement, I have the bolts and I've rigged up something to support the t-case and tranny, so I think I'm good there.
It's not like I want to do this fix in a parking lot. I've called around to friends and rental companies trying to find a trailer, dolly, something that could work. All of them refused. I asked the base police if I could flat tow the truck not even a mile to the shop and they said no.
I'm just working the cards I've been delt.
Turns out the starter bolt was loose and caused a misalignment. Tightened it and the pinion gear popped back. That starter is stuck out there in the fly wheel teeth. Disconnect the batteries and get the starter off and checked. That is where I would start. Get a flywheel tool and turn the flywheel 360* and inspect the teeth first hand. Pictures and report back. Good Luck.
Called AAA, 4 times, and escorted the tow truck on base. Would not recommend, as AAA has basically disowned my membership and is charging me for every tow, still cheaper than a private tow truck company though. How did you get out in that parking lot to begin with, if you have fuel problems?
oh wait, youre doing a pick up in ft meade? Is that it?
you can fit a M1028 on a galvanized u-haul trailer. You might have to take the dually tires off, it it has them.Yeah, registration is in the mail right now, so they had to charge me. Rental trailer would have been cheaper, but theres no where around me that rents one big enough.
Every single u haul rental place around me is at a home Depot or at a gas station. They didn't have any trailer longer than 10 feet.you can fit a M1028 on a galvanized u-haul trailer. You might have to take the dually tires off, it it has them.
Because you have exceeded your membership limits...based on your history, maybe you would be better off owning your own two truck?Called AAA, 4 times, and escorted the tow truck on base.
