Rancho makes some that are around the same overall length as the original ones. I never got any further than that though.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
Can you move them easily? I have replaced many regular car shocks before and they have far more resistance... the lmtv ones which are 3-4 times the size compress without much/any resistance at all.I have used ones. You can move them by hand they are just made to absorb a quick shock.
Mine have a different size bolt hole top versus bottom as well, are yours like that?LMTV shock bolts measure just shy of 16mm. Rancho RS999036 is 36 inches and compresses to 21.3 inches that should be enough travel I think. Bolt hole on the Ranchos is listed at 15.875mm. The stock ones compress to 20.94 inches by spec and open to a minimum of 33.26 inches.
some one tried the gabriels.... it was a no go cause shock eye ends bolt size were way to far off to use.I believe a Gabriel # 83242 will fit. The stock shocks on the front are 20.9449 Compressed and 33.2677 extended. That model Gabriel 20.98 and 33.73. The shock bore is the same. I don't know about sleeve size for the mounting bolt but it looks to be about a 1/2" or 5/8" sleeve. They are reasonably priced around $50 each.
while at the truck tonight I got 5/8" shank measurement for bolt at top of shock and 7/8 shank for one at bottom. Though do believe that technically these are metric....Anyone got bolt specs.? same bolts front and rear? Been reported they are different top and bottom.
There are a few folks on the LMTV FB group who have them.Has anyone tried the fox shocks from Grisby ? They look great I just take my truck on beach . But I have got front wheels in the air.
Those are just a basic bypass shock. I've not looked up the NSN but I suspect they are for a light vic. Also has anyone tried stuffing these ( MSI Defense Solutions 10024848-0001 Direct Action Shock Absorber) onto theLMTV,?? Not even sure what size they are but they look interesting...
