5 ton lockout hubs

The sprag is a over running, one direction, automatic engaging clutch, in the 5t transfer (39/809) there are basically two over running clutches back to back, the internals in the transfer case have the front input (from the front axle rotation) turning 8% faster then the rears, when the rears spin (loose traction) there by spinning 8%+ faster, the over running clutch dogs are allowed to engage, driving the front axle, the over running clutch WILL STAY ENGAGED even after there is no rear spin till the load is taken off the clutch dogs (step on the clutch), this is WHY it is INPORTANT to release the load on the over running clutch BEFORE you drive on hard surfaces, you WILL break something if you do not.

So by using the front slectomatic hubs UNLOCKLED, the transfer WILL think the rears are spinning, engage the sprag, driving the third member, needless to say this will lead to a lot of UNNEEDED ware, and there is not really any way to get around this UNLESS you can find a NONEXESTENT 5t "REB" kit (never made). (A reb kit was a kit made by Memphis equipment that converted a DEUCE sprag transfer case to a manual shift front engagement transfer case).

Hope the above helps
So in your opinion there is no sensible way to have custom hubs to disengage my front axle for highway use on a M52A2?

I went back and re-read the posts and want to clarify my information. I know the transfer case has a neutral position but in my post I was referring to the Spragg clutch having 2 positions and not a neutral. In the case of a wrecker using the output to power the hydraulic pump, the Spragg and all of the drive line are not moving, it's not that they are in neutral. The transfer case gearbox is in neutral...which is different than the Spragg section that is only on the front drive-line. If the Spragg had a neutral, where a large speed differential would not wear it out prematurely, then lockouts would work, but it doesn't.

My earlier point was correct, that a non rotating front drive line (using unlocked "lockouts") will result in one side of the clutch turning at highway speed (the part coming from the gearbox) and one side not turning at all (driveshaft). I think that is 12x the wear on the Spragg clutch inner cams part vs not having lockouts.

I'm going to be "one of those guys" that revives a 6 year old thread. Looks like three different individuals were working on these. Any still in production or capable of being produced? I seen a few balking at the high price tag but big and quality are seldom cheap. I would be interested in financially punishing myself for a pair. Just want to improve my 925a2 for myself and the 99% of road driving she sees. I have perfect CTIS and am not interested in the desplined cap concept at all. Anyone able to hook me up?

I had these made from a friend who doesn't have his machine shop any more, I did the drawings, 3d prints and springs needed , I have the 3d drawings in STL format and the unobtaineum springs that where specially made, If I can figure out how to load On files the page I will, this was done as a project for me and I gave all the stuff to my buddy for him to make if he wanted to.

A HUGE THANKYOU! However, I can't open the files. Is there anyway you can email them to me? - peekchad@hotmail.com
