So glad this is moving along!
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
So in your opinion there is no sensible way to have custom hubs to disengage my front axle for highway use on a M52A2?The sprag is a over running, one direction, automatic engaging clutch, in the 5t transfer (39/809) there are basically two over running clutches back to back, the internals in the transfer case have the front input (from the front axle rotation) turning 8% faster then the rears, when the rears spin (loose traction) there by spinning 8%+ faster, the over running clutch dogs are allowed to engage, driving the front axle, the over running clutch WILL STAY ENGAGED even after there is no rear spin till the load is taken off the clutch dogs (step on the clutch), this is WHY it is INPORTANT to release the load on the over running clutch BEFORE you drive on hard surfaces, you WILL break something if you do not.
So by using the front slectomatic hubs UNLOCKLED, the transfer WILL think the rears are spinning, engage the sprag, driving the third member, needless to say this will lead to a lot of UNNEEDED ware, and there is not really any way to get around this UNLESS you can find a NONEXESTENT 5t "REB" kit (never made). (A reb kit was a kit made by Memphis equipment that converted a DEUCE sprag transfer case to a manual shift front engagement transfer case).
Hope the above helps
@profo should be able to help youI'm going to be "one of those guys" that revives a 6 year old thread. Looks like three different individuals were working on these. Any still in production or capable of being produced? I seen a few balking at the high price tag but big and quality are seldom cheap. I would be interested in financially punishing myself for a pair. Just want to improve my 925a2 for myself and the 99% of road driving she sees. I have perfect CTIS and am not interested in the desplined cap concept at all. Anyone able to hook me up?
Thank you. Just read his thread, looks like exactly right for me. I've messaged him@profo should be able to help you
Oops..count me in for the serious delayed posting...lol.I will go for a set as well! Price and sprag compatibility pending?
Just checking in on your old post. Did you have any success? I'm looking for lock out hubs for a 1973 M52-A2 - LDS All Fuel MotorThanks guys I'll let him know and see what kinda actual price he can make them for. But he said it would be signifigantly less than whats out there now.
A HUGE THANKYOU! However, I can't open the files. Is there anyway you can email them to me? - peekchad@hotmail.comI had these made from a friend who doesn't have his machine shop any more, I did the drawings, 3d prints and springs needed , I have the 3d drawings in STL format and the unobtaineum springs that where specially made, If I can figure out how to load On files the page I will, this was done as a project for me and I gave all the stuff to my buddy for him to make if he wanted to.
THANK YOU!!! I will forward the files to my brother who is a machinest to see if he can make them. AWESOME!!!heres the rest

Thank you sir! Just have to figure out who I can get to manufacture me someThey are STL files, you will have to have either solidworks or some other 3d drawing program to be able to open.
Just spoke with him. He said there is still may variables that need to be answered above and beyond what I sent him in order for him to set up the machines. He advised that I would be best to look for a source that has already gone through the set up, machining and build process.Keep me posted. I am down for a pair
