I’ve been adding a little bit of diesel kleen every time I fill up but I will add some ATF. I saw the 2 stroke oils at walmart and thought about how you said it’s a must for weed whackers in an old post I saw while researching
I’m just running rotella 15-40 with a WIX filter. I feel like the problem started after I filled up at a Casey’s truck stop. Their diesel pump was disgusting but I was out in the middle of nowhere. Literally like right after I started it after filling up there all this mess started.Are you running a good grade motor oil, have you been adding any type of oil additives into the oil? I like to run the best grade motor oil I can find. I Put mobil 1 10,000 mile motor oil in my wife's lincoln ls and all the noises went away. I don''t no if it was a sticky lifter or what, but it's been running better than ever. If you added any oil additives your truck may not like them. Probably a fuel injector. No hard start, you don't smell diesel, return fuel lines are not leaking?
It definitely sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Mixing injectors would seem fine to me. I am not aware of any reason that it would be a problem. Keep your chin up,try not to stress, everything will work out for you. Things only affect you the way you allow them to. Think positive stay strong. I use a mechanic stethoscope, it's amazing how you can pinpoint where noises are coming from. Aside from the noise, truck is running perfectly fine and no leaks that I can see anywhere. I’m thinking an injector on the driver side took a sh**. I read on an old post on here that there’s a spring under the nozzle and that can go bad and cause a noise like this. I have a set of brand new rebuilt injectors from accurate diesel sitting at my house. I’ll hopefully be able to track down which one is the culprit and swap it out with one of those.
My other m1008 has the same tick, which is why I bought those injectors in the first place. Instead of replacing all of them I’ll just find the bad ones replace as needed between my two trucks.
There shouldn’t be any issue mixing and matching injectors if they have different nozzles should there?
Yeah I just put on some music so I don’t hear it lol. Once I start going highway speed it either disappears or the frequency is so fast on the tapping that it’s no longer perceivable. I have cleaned diesel nozzles at pumps with ether because they were so nasty. Works good. If you think diesel was bad try the Seafoam or keep adding ATF. It might still free up that injector. Maybe try not driving it so hard for a while. I would put in the Seafoam in a nearly empty tank and run it long enough to get in the engine and let it set overnight. How nice, but here in Spain that does not pass the annual inspection of vehicles and they give you the vehicle of low, also that if the police see you they will give you a very high fine ..... but it is very niceView attachment 842461

I just got done doing that and aside from burning my hand and making a mess there was no change.I guess just loosen them while the engine is running one at a time to find the offender. Good Luck. Not an exhaust leak?

I have one and I’m poking around with it and I feel like I can almost hear the tapping faintly everywhere, but injectors 2 and 4 kinda stand out. I tried to capture it for you guys by putting the stethoscope on my phone mic. I’ll try cracking them again and see if it makes a difference. I’ve done it all different ways, but right on the fuel lines was where It sounded more pronounced. Right on the injector they all sound similar. No real tapping from the valve covers.Place it right on the injector not on the fuel line. Place it on the valve covers in different spots.
