I'm so glad this thread lives on! I ended up building a Suburban using the guts of this truck. The box still sits in a field gutted.
Fast forward the Suburban built looks like a loose clone of the truck from the movie Dante's Peak that I loved as a kid. I've owned this Suburban for almost 10 years and it sits as a 1 ton 8.1 rig currently.
Keep fast forwarding a guy in MA found the original movie truck and I'm going on Monday to bring mine down, do a quick photo shoot side by side, then I'm delivering it to the new owner.
I'm surfing the web thinking about a future new project truck. Want something unique and different. HMMWV, M37, M715...I don't know. Googled Isuzu NPR conversion, found someone building one in a solar power forum thread that linked back to this thread about the M1010 box teardown...WHICH IS MY OWN THREAD

So maybe I need to build an Ambo CUCV

Guaranteed she would get a GEP 6.5, side mount turbo, and an NV4500. Not that I haven't thought it out.
Glad this thread still kicks!
