I have been working on building a water tender and making some changes on another, between mounting a pump to a transfer case to change the direction of the pump, but to also make it 2 speed… then have been working on a now finished interior kit and finalizing parts for a center console for the fire truck, and also reverse engineered the dash reinforcement panels and door strap mounts for the door limiting straps.

Reliable in your experience? I see lots of them around. I also have the smaller 14volt version. This one seems robust, 1500va transformer inside and very large smoothing capacitors.
Never had issues with them even with all the dust and dirt and two theaters of use / Did blow up one when the camera had short and it made a very loud Bang

Does that t-case mount to the existing one or between? That's pretty cool

The transfer case is the yellow Dana that’s mounted to the frame of the truck but the pump is mounted to the top of the trucks transmission/transfer case. It shouldn’t be too big of a deal because it shouldn’t ever be subjected to a shock load. It should be pretty linear. The pump mount is all .25”

So how is the Dana case driven?

I finally got me some new sneakers! First one almost all put back together. Had a hard time finding the correct tan color in flat locally, so I just went with black. I needed to clean up some rust that was beginning.

Ok, so left side PTO drive to the 2speed Dana Vdrive and back up to the pump over the transmission? I like it. What PTO drive did you use? Are you looking to use this while driving? If so, you may need to tweek the allowable PTO RPM limit settings in the TCU. Our local FD district where we store some of our sheriffs equipment were running some wildland training the other day, running a hose along the roadside while moving slowly, practicing fighting a ditch fire. They only have 2 rigs that can engage pump while driving… I was teasing them about walking the truck on a “leash” hose:)

Finally got a set of MVTs and wheels. XMLs are finally off. 4k miles and was prob pretty lucky. They've been bouncing a lot more lately.

Update: I used the tried and true Tyler method of tire shine application. Very nice. Makes the truck worth $100's of thousands. Great success🤣

Thanks to Wes @simp5782 for them7E4918B2-1D5F-404A-9E05-360C1ECBF09A.jpegBCB23F56-C16D-42E1-A13B-16D199245EB0.jpeg570816A5-DA6F-4785-803A-29C05E327FCA.jpegE5E1CD53-7E23-4C52-9F18-2C025997E3A6.jpeg

Got to the cooler today. deck it tomorrow.
The long march of reassembly begins. Hopefully I won't have parts leftover.🙄

does the little blue orphan hose in the picture ever go? That's buried in there deep. Lotta work if I ever have to replace 5" of coolant line. I've already had 5 other hoses remade.

Unlikely to fail - all the coolant hoses are reinforced silicone. Wouldn't concern me - biggest issue I have experienced is maybe some shrinkage or the clamps losing their tension. Have to re-rig the adjustable clamps sometimes due to that.

When you mention other hoses you have had made - I assume you mean the fuel lines and such? Those turn to :poop: and fall off as black powder.

Really wonder how much of an issue this is with the cooler decking. The bolts supply enormous amount of force to flatten that piece. Seems a tightening method starting with the center bolts would be the smartest considering how these things flex. Also why do they flex where there are inherent stresses in the casting and they didn't relieve them properly?

There's a CAT service bulletin about the cooler warpage issue:

It's for C7's but this is literally what we think ended @ckouba's HEUI pump on his 2001 3126b.

Yes pulling all those, plus the 2 in/out of the HEUI. Also redid the cooler lines. Originals were stiff like cadavers. I'm switching to straight JIC fittings to get away from so many o rings. Plus the 2 coolant lines to the air compressor. They all just look terribly old.

I can only say that the gasket material in the middle of the face was not stuck to the surface at all whereas along the outer edges it's very stuck. Seems like there's less pressure pushing on the gasket in the span across the face by that evidence. Makes sense to me that 20-30 thousandths of warp would affect the gasket contact pressure unless there were bolts in the middle which would be tough to do with that style filter housing.

I've never seen a spec for flatness?
I really dislike the engineering design of this part...should be separated.
I'm wondering how Cat arrived at this combination of parts. Seems weird to have the Aluminum housing bolt to the smooth steel face just to make up the 3 large cavities that are pressurized, unless they're repurposing a common component like the cooler itself. Mass Manufacturing works that way most of the time. Cutting grooves in the face to match the filter housing would've helped but the aluminum housing itself could've had closed chambers with in/out ports. There're using o ring seals on the two ports from the engine to push oil in and out of the steel cooler back portion and that face isnt warped at all. Seems like a thrown together combination but maybe there's more to the story.
