Im thinking they should look better than the 900's ,may be a little skinny looking, but cant afford the bigger meats right now,im still in the process of making my truck road worthy and reliable.

I like the 1100R20 Michelin XZL tire for my trucks. All around traction and not so skinny. I've run them dual and singles and they work and handle well.

A helpful tire guide link.

The xzl's look great, none of those were available within driving distance for me,Clark has new Firestone t831's in 1100 but way more price than the xl's.WALLET chose my tires.

Too bad I did not know you would want an XZL as I have extra and I was in Marietta 0800 yesterday morn to recover a vehicle.

I put brand new11:00X20 XLs on ,and balanced them ,run them around 65psi I have to tell you these are stiffer to mount and lift from the old NDTs. they have the tits still on the tire after 900 miles of road and 50miles of extreme offroad. Mine is also singled.

11echo, your tires on the front of both trucks don't look skinny like mine, I think its because you are using combat rims, the stock rims set inboard more bringing the foot print tighter. Nice look you have.

It seems that the mil. is converting to singled out trucks, is there any advantage to this? Bob H's deuce with the dual 11/20's looks REAL cool. My truck is singled with flipped hubs but that pic. of Bobs makes me wonder. What if you had the dual 11/20's in back with a fatty in front like a concrete truck? Obviously the rubber investment goes thru the roof!

That is mostly a yes but also a no, there is a basic rule that is as true as the day is long, a narrow tall tire is better in mud and snow, a wider tire is better in rocks and sand,, now think about this , we fight in sand and rocks, SOOO ,, many 939 series five tons that went to singles in the A1 to A 2 series because of where the future wars were going to be fought and were right on... BUT ...,MANY had duels put back on them for over the road use, especially in conus meaning the good ol USA .. why? because they are much much more stable under a load and wear much much longer, so everything has a give and take and no one answer fits all, I am in with a bunch of guys that put more miles in Iraq for the first few years than anybody and have the citations to prove it, They say they all wanted the duels when they could get em, the bigger tires when convoying on the road wore extremely fast, AND when fully ,loaded had side wall failures when aired down wayyyyy more than any duels, in fact the older 5 tons with ndtccs and dues had like next to no failures, just wear, these comments can be taken to the bank.

How is it that skinny tires are better in mud and snow, wouldn't they slice thru like a pizza cutter and sink out of sight unlike a wide tire that would compress a larger surface area to distribute the load and float on top?

I have several sets of fronts for my tipper. The 1100R20's look good on the stock wheels also. I like the 14.5's on soft ground for more flotation.

So what difference did the 11.00s make in actual speed campared to 9.00s?how much is the speedo off? is there mod th make the speedo correct again?
The 1100 XZL's turned my 55 mph trucks into ones that run 63 mph gps verified.
Speedo if off about 10%. The speedometer adapter for 1100 tires is as hard to find as hen's teeth.

That would depend upon the mud. If you are swamp mudding the bigger floatation might help. Around my part of the world a tall narrow open tread design is much better than the wide stuff. We do not have much sand. Wide tires quickly translate into no steering. The ability to cut down to firmer soil is much better than floating on top with no steering. Snow has a nasty habit off floating a wide tire and taking away both traction and steering. I suppose if you were trying to drive over a ten foot drift the wide tire might float your truck. Here we want a tire that has enough weight on it to tightly pack snow to the ground so the denser pack can help with traction. Wide tires floating on top of snow do a poor job of steering. Better in my opinion to have control of the beast than to slide to the lowest point all the time.
