Cleaned it out some - still more to do!
Oiled the window mechanisms - windows were hard to roll up.
Changed some fluids.
Bought some used parts - bridge plate, new sunvisors & sill plates.
Got another spare tire - one it came with was worthless.
Installed the repaired rear driveshaft & new slip yoke.
Replaced the t-case extension due to damage.
Installed a console.
Still working on the door panels too - I'll dye them burgandy.

Lots more to do.......

"Unearthed" while replacing brushguard - last assignment before decommissioning
28 28 D (Could/Should? be B) 815 HQ 12. :jumpin:

Also "found" new electrical problem with running lights staying on (all switches off) very (almost imperceptibly) dimly. (Another short?):roll:

Changed the ignition and door locks (took about 2 hours, not in a hurry, used GMCPaul's parts), now I don't have to crawl through the ambulance to unlock the doors. :grin:

Drove it about 5 miles to warm it up, and took it through the drive-thru at Taco Bell... I should be fine at 9 foot clearance as it's about 8'6" at the rear of the box, and nothing sticks up (until I get the radio antennas installed....)

Put in a new harmonic balancer, fan clutch, and all new belts. Not a huge difference, but a little less vibration. For my first time doing something like this 5 hours of work didn't seem so bad. Thanks to all the guys on here posting how to's in plain English not tech talk!

Finished installing the NAP a/c kit and had the system filled and leak checked. Cold air! Put all the bits and pieces that I took off to put the a/c system in back on. Wired in a 24v distribution box on the rear passenger sidewall to push power to overhead 24v dome lights. Continued to list all the things I have YET to do before we move so the M1009 can make the road trip.

My hi beams didn't work so I replaced the switch. No hi beams. I replaced both headlights (which I was going to do anyway after reading so many good things about the Silverstars). Still no hi beams. I unplugged the connection from the brand new installed switch and plugged it into a brand new foot switch (the parts guys recognize my face now when I come in). Hi beams!

I also cleaned and painted the headlight brackets and bezels while I had them off. And, I also cleaned the instrument panel cover (removed while trying to get to the @#$% tiny screws and bolts holding the dimmer switch located on the upper side the steering column).

Headlight dimmer switch replacement turned into a full dash and instrument cluster removal. I tried to clean out the dirt, sprayed or wiped off all the electricial connections, replaced all the cluster lights, tried to match what few original screws were left, and then re-installed.
