I'm not worried about CB. I have a HT to use for that.
I do 2m and 70cm right now. Later on I do want to grow into some of the HF stuff though. Very good info though thank you. I didn't realize there were so many different antennas. I'll figure out what I have and then go from there.
I did it in an afternoon. I worked on it awhile then stopped. Then got back to it. All I bought was new battery terminals. For wiring, I used the power wires for the slave jump port in the grille. That provided enough wire to make the new battery cables.
EDIT - Oh yeah the starter too. My 24v...
Hi
I have converted my M1009 to 12 volt with the Roscomm method (#2 on http://www.roscommonequipmentcenter.com/nn10.pdf ). My two batteries are wired parallel (+to+ and -to-) and everything runs off the passenger side alternator. The drivers side alternator is still bolted into the truck, but...
Hi guys,
To start off with, I have a M1009. It is all original with the exception of being converted to 12 volts (didn't want to do that but couldn't find a 24v starter. Had to use civilian 12v starter).

ABRIDGED VERSION : I need the proper...
From what I gather my M1009 has the NP208 trasfer case. Well the bolts that hold the drivesaft to the transfer case came loose while offroading and the driveshaft hit the case cracking it....so I need to find a replacement.
What other transfer cases will offer a direct drop in replacement that...
The Rosscom method details using the passenger side alternator to charge the batteries and provide power to everything.
Here is the link. I did method #2

I think I'm either going to do an onboard welder from the drivers side alternator or...
So I did a 12 volt conversion on my M1009. I know it is generally frowned upon, but I was backed into a corner and didn't have a choice. My starter blew up and I couldn't source a 24v replacement fast enough or cheap enough. I purchased a Duralast starter with a lifetime warranty for $80 (they...
Yeah I'm in the green on the voltage gauge. When I first start it up it stays in the yellow for a bit and the belts squeal, but once it warms up the gauge jumps to the green as soon as the belt quiets down. I need to get in and sand all the pulleys and adjust the belts.
Both of the alternator dummy lights on my dash use to light up when I first started the truck. Now only the Gen1 light illuminates....but when the truck is running my volt meter shows in the green (after a few minutes of running and the belt stops slipping lol)
Most vehicles I've worked on in...
Turns out I was wrong. The front of the radiator on the drives side is leaking. I couldn't find the leak at first so I thought it was the overflow backing up. Looks like I need to find a new radiator!
I have a suspicion that I may be having head gasket problems (hydrocarbons in the coolant). I have not tested to verify yet though. I If I do need to replace head gaskets, what do you guys recommend? Doing the actual job won't be an issue for me, but what parts should I pick up? Is there a...
