    Fuse block melted

https://www.lmctruck.com/1973-91-chevy-gmc/headlight/gm-heavy-duty-headlight-harness Just match to the year. I haven't installed it on mine but many people have. also I haven't tested wiring it to 24V with LEDs but it should work fine. 24V on the contact is not particularly demanding (like...

    Fuse block melted

Bother to read my post fully would ya? If you install the LMC harness... you run straight to the battery and can wire it as 12V or 24V at your discretion since it's a relay. In any case the LEDs don't look stock so many people will avoid them anyway in which case.. nevermind.

    Fuse block melted

Also, swapping to LED headlights... will probably take you from around 10-11Amps on highbeams (with plain old NAPA 55W headlights I had) to more like 3-5.5 amps. Its not a cheap fix but it is a fairly permanent one.. your headlights would run on battery about twice as long also. You can combine...

M1009 6.2L exhaust manifold swap 2in outlet on stock manifold?

So reading around on this forum I see people saying that the exhaust manifolds have 2.5in outlets that go down to 2.25in at the collector.... but that can't be right looking at my M1009 as the bolt centers on the manifold flanges are 2.5in not 3in.... so it must have 2in outlets on the manifold...

    M1009 Speedometer question

The cable could be broken... which would cause it to sometimes drive the speedo and sometimes to slip. If you can drive the transmission end of the cable at a constant speed with a drill etc.... and it jumps but you can drive the speedo directly with a drill and it doesn't jump then there you...

Installed civi Air conditioning in the m1009

I'm thinking of putting on the Nostalgic system... I don't care too too much about it being integrated with the heat. And I'm already deviating a bit by planning on putting a radio where the center dash vent would be... I might relocated the vent to where the radio would have been stock. Also...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Note this thread is for what you have done not questions.... so start a thread on it! Rememeber "DO NOT post questions about your issues in this thread. " its right in the first post. Anyway... since my last post I've replaced my dash lights with LEDs .... unfortunately they don't seem...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Tore out the rotten dash and removed the gauges so I could get at the wiring better, sprayed deoxit all over the place., replaced the headlight fuse as it was just plain gone, Police stuff (lights siren etc...) removed, replaced the reverse lights with LEDs, ordered flashers so I can put LEDs in...

    M1009 LED Problems

Someone at Trucklite must have had a premonition about this thread.... they came out with a heated version last year 27455C But wow are they expensive.

    Thermostat housing fittings

Thanks, I presume you used a thread locker/sealant ... thats what I'm planning on anyway.

    Thermostat housing fittings

So the return line 90 degree fitting on the top of the thermostat housing on my motor was broken off, I used an easy out to get it out and now need to replace it... Does anyone know what size thread that is? I think it may be 1/8th NPT but I'm not sure... Also is the thermostat housing...

    Goat engine alternate starter

I ended up picking up a Masco gear reduction 12v starter. It's more expensive but I am also very happy with it so far.

    Goat engine alternate starter

Yes that is what I thought... it should be a matter of just making sure the starter gear has the right number of teeth... since it is the bell housing's job to align the starter with the flywheel. I've seen the starter turn over before but... the housing on the solenoid busted after I got it...

    Goat engine alternate starter

I have a gama goat engine (saved from sawmill duty) that I intend to put back on the road in a CUCV or similar once I get it restored. That said the starter that is on it is shot (busted solenoid , missing cap from then end), and this would be a good opportunity to convert it to 12V. I'm...

Goat won't do over 30, help me!

Jericho, acutally I'm restoring a gama goat engine and have done a lot of reading about Detroit 2 strokes. The blower is necessary to push air through at startup, but becomes parasitic when running at full power. There is a youtube video of someone putting a whipple supercharger on a 6v53 but it...
