Depends. Not all can mounts are created equal. The strap can either be anchored to the mount itself (see picture), or loop underneath and around it, with the bolted down mount holding the strap in place.
Sounds like it's working properly. The 'clicking' from the antenna is the auto adjustment of the frequency range.
The 'gets really fast' sound when you hold the mic, is the cooling fan in the back of the radio. They make alot of heat when transmitting. You can see the intake for it on the back...
Hey JD. Yes, the trailers were designed for the deuce. They ride on 9x20 tires. In fact hooked to a 5T the trailer sets kinda low in the arse, but you hardly know it's there. Weight is just over 7K.
Southern Automotive is the label on the box. It was new in '06 when the 818 was rebuilt. Had trouble with an intermittant loss of electrical power and the box was the culprit. Not sure why. Took it apart and tested the relays. They were fine. Replaced it with a new box and has worked fine ever...
