Cool, gunfreak. I'm following your 6.2 powered deuce project closely. I got another engine started, and I believe this is the one I'm going to install into my blazer. It fires right up and has no blowby whatsoever! I also simplified the wiring for the groundhop setup too:
Nah. I've had 6.2's that were sputtering oil out the dipstick tube that kept running for years. Besides, this thing never got properly warmed up. I let it idle for about 3 minutes in between the two videos and the blowby was gowing away pretty good. My wifey (the cameraman) told me that I had to...
I wanted to let the engine warm up to see if some of the blowby would go away, so I fished a junk forklift radiator out of the garbage at work and rigged it up! I also dont have all of the bracketry to install a V-belt, so I made one out of electricians' tape. That didn't work so well, so I...
I got a few hours to mess around with the other engines yesterday and today. I wired up and plumbed the oldest, dirtiest, beatest looking engine and got it to fire up today. In my inspection, I found what I think caused it to be pulled and surplused. There was a foreign object lodged way down in...
Just a word of caution if you install an electric fuel pump in front of the mechanical one: If the diaphram on the mech. pump breaks, the electric pump will continue to pump and fill up the crankcase with deisel. Just be aware of that possibility.
I install electric pumps in all of my 6.2's...
Originally, there was a plate that sandwiched between the mechanical fuel pump and the block that had a fitting for returning the oil to the pan. Some folks just weld a fitting onto the oilpan. Easy enough.
Do you have any plans to do high-steer? It looks pretty easy with the new passenger side steering arm.
This project of yours is just about the very same thing I've got planned for my 86 civy diesel K5.
An easy kluge is to us the a/c evaporator box out of an S10 pickup. I hear that they bolt up to (a civilian K-series') firewall, and allow the needed clearance for the turbo and exhaust components. I dont know yet, but I'm installing a 6.5 turbo onto my 86 K10, so I've read a bunch about this...
Gunfreak, I'm afraid that what I'm going to want for the mounts is going to be too high. I'm afraid to ask a price that would make parting out the can worthwhile for me. PM sent.
As promised, though, here are the pics:
I've got a trailer full of engine cans with 6.2's in em. I've got one that's empty. I'll snap some pics of the mounts tonight after work.
One thing, though. The whole "cradle" in these cans is rubber isolated, so coppying them directly wouldn't work for you unless you dont want rubber engine...
6.2s bolt right up in any aplication where a GM small or big-block was. You do, indeed, need to get a diesel torque converter. Having a transmission with the diesel shift points would be better, but not necessary. A manual glow plug setup is super easy to make. You need a starter solenoid, a...
