    Any Wiring Tips

Erik's has all the wiring bits, and sometimes the entire harnesses (looks like they are in stock now). I've had to replace a bunch of the end connectors, but most of the wire was ok. The connector ends can be soldered on, or you can buy the special crimp tool. The prestolite wire has a...

    Copper O-rings for glowplugs 003

If you do find the old ones, it helps a lot to anneal them (heat to red hot with with a propane torch, then let them cool slowly - leave them sitting on the firebrick or steel plate you heated them on), then sand them flat (I use very fine wet/dry sand paper on a chunk of plate glass) before you...

    Hydraulic oil compatable?

Before you start pumping it in, take some of the old and some on the new and mix it in a clear cup, make sure it mixes. With a quick look, this looks like a standard hydrocarbon base oil, and I assume the old oil in the wrecker is as well, but mixing them is a quick check for incompatible oils...

    howdy folks

You are going to need to find a customs broker to accept the shipment at the port, and make sure all the duties / taxes are paid, and all the importation laws are met. Good news is Houston is a good (relatively cheap) place to do this. Some of the brokers also arrange the shipment from the...

Has Anyone Here come across this Hydraulic Pump?

Sunfab has a North American website, and still make small pumps specifically for mounting to a PTO. I was pretty sure I had seen some of their pumps at one of the surplus hydraulic places, but didn't see any this time. Never personally used one. Variable Flow Pumps

    Radiator/Fan Question

:ditto: And, removing and installing the fan with the radiator in is a real pain ! I find it easier to install the engine side of the radiator hose before putting the radiator back.

    Fender springs

I use rocket insulation... Really, it came out of the scrap bin where I used to work. It was probably to be used on the mounts at the top of the insulation boots the company builds to go around rocket engine nozzles to keep the hot gases from blowing back into the casings. It was probably some...

    Fender springs

I put new rubber on the side that didn't have any a while ago, and it helped a lot. The other side I just pulled apart and it has what looks like 3 layers of heavy canvas, sort of like fire hose material. Going to use rubber there as well.

    Fender springs

Darn it ! Why didn't this come up last week? I just got my springs from McMaster, my old springs were so rusty I couldn't tell what the wire diameter was, and I appear to have guessed wrong. Any suggested uses for the weaker springs ? (9435K136 - 302 Ss Precision Compression Spring, .750"...

EPIC DAY: Artic front installed... subsequent coolant rupture...leak discovery

If the safety guy is a BMW guy, ask him when the last time he did the 80k mile PM replacement of his sh**y $600 plastic radiator... (From experience, the failure at 90k miles is spectacular ! (replace radiator, fan, water pump, and a bunch of other stuff) I was lucky and got mine shut down...

    Heater sucks... Supposed to blow?

The M35A3's have the heater box under the dash (passenger side) as well. Same parts as the A2 under hood units, I think (haven't actually compared the part numbers from the TMs). The cab/defroster diverter is flipped around with the mounts re-welded on what would be the front in the A2...

    Weight of a 1966 Deuce

Note that different versions of the TM present the data in different ways. The later ones only list the rough terrain payload capacity, good if you want a lower weight, bad if want to able to haul 10,000 lbs. Also, the empty weight varied slightly, I assume as the standard equipment changed...
