Reusable hydraulic fittings - worth the extra cost?

My experience with the less expensive hand crimping dies and tools is poor. There is a real learning curve, you'll probably go through a bunch of fittings getting the hang of it. (The $1000 ++ hydraulic crimpers are pretty awesome, but you can buy a lot of re-usable fittings for cost of the tool...

    EOD body cooling system help

One thing to note about the NASA info on LCGs: The NASA LCG uses a relatively high water flow rate (~.5gpm, and 1-2PSI of pressure drop) where the water temperature is varied to control the cooling. The LCG used in the current space suits is basically identical to the final Apollo version. They...

    EOD body cooling system help

I've got a complete BCS-3a system and I can scan the manual if that would help. It has a battery operated pump and ice bottles. I think I picked it up at a NASA auction. I've also got quite a bit of experience designing, building and testing Liquid Cooling Garments for space, haz-mat...

Wheel conversion from military lock ring to conventional

Just as a note to this conversation, our deuces use a type of wheels termed by OSHA as "CURRENT PRODUCTION: TWO-PIECE SOLID RIM; SPLIT RING". There is a big difference in safety, servicing and availability from some of the other types of "Split Ring" or "Lock Ring" wheels. The difference is the...

    Gauge repair question

i would add to gringeltaube's comment - Are you totally sure you need to open the gauges ? It is amazing how much of the crud is on the outside of the lens and barrel. Make sure you thoroughly clean all the gauges before you open them. Opening them up may not be necessary.

    Deuce compressor issues

You've cleaned the air intake filter on the compressor, right ? A clogged air intake filter can cause the compressor to suck a surprising amount of oil out of the engine.

Kansas to Toronto- M934, hauling butt and crossing boarders

As someone who drives Houston to Toronto every couple of summers, Ditto what Wheelspinner said, that section along the south end of lake Michigan is awful, even in a civi vehicle. The route through Indianapolis and Fort Wayne is much more pleasant. Good luck and have fun !

    Big Bend NP Get Together?

We were down in Big Bend a couple of years ago. It was awesome, and definitely on the do again list. There will be a large variation in temperature between the desert and the Chisos basin. When we were there in early June, desert was 70-100F, basin was 40-80F. I would plan on cold nights in...
