Well, finally registered her and drove her for my first time...

I have had my 1988 M998 6.5/TH400 to 73mph once (proven by GPS Speedo app on my phone) but was once, def. not a "crusing" speed. Your best bet for ease of install and headaches is the 700 swap. My 2cents..

    Soft Top Vs Hard Top

I bought the standard Iron Curtain with no window, was like $1000, and shipping took almost 2 months. I should of and will do again make one myself. Will post pics of the entire build when I am done with it..

    Soft Top Vs Hard Top

When I bought my truck it came as a 4 man soft top/soft doors/etc. I pretty much daily drive the thing here in Chicago so I am currently convertering to a X-door, slantback roof, and aftermarket "iron curtain" or back window for security and winter weather driving. All will be seam sealed and...

    Transmission Swap

700R4 is def. the way to go when looking for more MPG and higher cruising speeds. Throw in a 2wd/4wd transfer case and now your really talking !

Anyone running 42" tires on 17" aftermarket wheels ? If so I need your help...

Its metal. It came with the 2" body lift from Rubber Duck 4x4. Plans are to re-make it out of thicker gauge material eventually as the one that comes with the kit is really nothing more then sheet metal.

Anyone running 42" tires on 17" aftermarket wheels ? If so I need your help...

Went to go see the truck today for the first time with the new lift / tires installed. Have exactly 24" from the ground to the bottom of the truck, and as you can kinda tell the wheels don't really stick out at all from the fenders, maybe 1/2'' if even that ?

I went with the stock Hummer H1 specs. Haven't drove the truck with the new setup yet but looks to be all good.

Anyone running 42" tires on 17" aftermarket wheels ? If so I need your help...

Nope. This is a CNC'ed wheel that mounts up to the Humvee with eight lugs just like the stock wheels do. No spacers. No modifications. The larger 6 bolts are nothing more than design / decoration, as are the screws that are going around the perimeter.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Never knew a aftermarket wheel on this forum would cause so much grief. They are not hubcaps. They are not 6 bolt wheels adapted to the truck . No wheel adapters are being used. Look at the pictures below. The wheel is bolted to the stock / OEM hub with Eight8 lugs just like the stock wheel...

Anyone running 42" tires on 17" aftermarket wheels ? If so I need your help...

The wheels are build to order so you can have as much offset put into them as you desire. I like the look of the wheels within (or as close to) the fenders as possible.

Space between ? Not exactly sure what your asking. The new wheels mount as any other wheel does. Guess the answer would be a garden hose ?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

The rear wheels has the center mounted / hub mounted "tie down" bracket on it (the front does not). The current wheels are thicker then the stock wheels so the bracket is now "inside" the wheel as where on the stock Humvee wheels they sit flush with the dish of the wheel. The plan is to...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Their not hubcaps, their wheels I can assure you. The bolts are just for design, it is not a beadlock by any means. Not trying to pass them off as them. Look up the wheels online (Black Rhino makes them).

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

2" spring + 2" body lift and 17x9.5 Black Rhino wheels on 40x13.5x17 Cooper Discovery STT Pros. The truck is getting a lot more done to it. When its back in my possession I will take a bunch of pics and post a newbuild thread on it..

Anyone running 42" tires on 17" aftermarket wheels ? If so I need your help...

Not at all (from what I can tell). I haven't seen the truck in person since the tires and wheels were put on. I will get some better / head on pics in the next week or so and post em up ..

Humvee audio systems: What have you added / done to your rig ?

My truck is at my buddies shop as I type so I don't have it here to take pics. But literally at the three meetup points where the hood "sits" on the snubbers or whatever you call them for the body I put a strip of the soft side of Velcro on each side (hood & snubber thing) and it literally shut...
