I would think that you would need the entire bumper for that to work correctly.
I don't think the stock 1009 bumper would work very well.
The stock 1008 bumper might work though.
I voted no, but in the end it's your truck so do what you want or feel is necessary.
Did you replace the bulb for the Gen 1 light in the dash? Isn't it part of charging system?
Are those seats more comfortable than the stock 1009 seats?

Cool pics nonetheless. I've been thinking of removing the top on my 1009, but the weatherman hasn't been clear enough for me to risk getting rained on.
The best part about owning a CUCV is never having to search for answers, just ask a question and get an....... maybe that's not a good thing????

Like Warthog said, the fluid isn't bypassing the radiator, it is always flowing through the entire system.
Running with the heater on will pull some heat off the motor, but of course you will be cooking yourself in the cab. I used to have to do that when I had thermostat problems in my Mustang...
