M925A1 Stuck on my own property. DOH!!! Winch to the rescue!

Ha ha. I bought this property a year and a half ago, and already the trees in the meadow have grown far bigger than they were when I bought the place. Part of me was irritated that my meadow was being overtaken by trees, and I thought about pulling them all out. But at the same time, I thing...

M925A1 Stuck on my own property. DOH!!! Winch to the rescue!

One reason I'm so interested in these land anchors, is because there are some sand dunes fairly close to me that I like to go to. Sand Lake in north western Oregon. And every time I've been there, I see multiple vehicles stuck where there are no trees around. This weekend I'm planning to take...

M925A1 Stuck on my own property. DOH!!! Winch to the rescue!

I'm actually getting kind of excited now about the possibilities of carrying one or two of these danforth anchors in my truck, together with a snatch block. I'm picturing in my head various recovery situations where it would be handy to use the land anchor with a snatch block to winch someones...

M925A1 Stuck on my own property. DOH!!! Winch to the rescue!

Very cool! Yes, I am definitely going to have to experiment with this. I just found two danforth anchors on Craigslist near me for $50 for both of them. ha ha. Can't tell how big they are. Maybe two of them together would be enough to help a 24,000 pound M925A1. I see a lot of videos of...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

That's probably the best and easiest option. They've already got the tools.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Sadly I do not. But even my dad's 14 inch metal chop saw wouldn't cut a 6 inch diameter pipe like this. You'd have to cut part way through and then flip it over and cut from the other side, and then getting your cuts to line up always sucked. I guess my main problem is figuring out how to get...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Today my 6 inch exhaust pipe came UPS:naner: So this evening I spent a couple hours putting it on. I discovered that although I like loud big diesel trucks........this engine, without a turbo on it, is just too loud straight piped. Even though it wasn't too loud for me personally inside the...

    M939 air filter mod

After reading this post, last night it gave me the motivation to go out and pull my air cleaner out, and zip that section out with my plasma cutter. So now I have full air filter usage as well. I haven't driven my truck enough to really have anything to go off of to tell if it made a...

    M939 air filter mod

I was looking at mine the other day. I have a plasma cutter that would be extremely easy to just stick in there and cut that part out of there. I should do it. My air filter is still super clean, but I can see a line there where it goes behind that part. Boggles my mind why they would have...

M925A1 Stuck on my own property. DOH!!! Winch to the rescue!

Oh cool! I used to have one of those danforth anchors on my boat. I hadn't really thought about using one of those. Thanks! And in searching for other people using those anchors for land anchors I came across this. http://www.pullpal.com

M925A1 Stuck on my own property. DOH!!! Winch to the rescue!

Ha ha, I actually just today, a couple hours before this adventure, installed a 12 volt cigarette lighter socket in the truck. But since I was just going for a quick little drive around the property, didn't bother to get my phone first.

M925A1 Stuck on my own property. DOH!!! Winch to the rescue!

I've been wanting to design a land anchor for just this sort of thing. A device that could be carried on the truck, that would have angled spades on it that would dig into soft ground and give you something to attach the winch line to when there are no trees. Would particularly come in handy...

M925A1 Stuck on my own property. DOH!!! Winch to the rescue!

So, I've been doing all this work to this truck since I bought it a couple weeks ago. Haven't driven it on the highway yet, because I haven't registered it yet, because I wanted to make sure I fixed it all up good enough to be road worthy first of course. I've worked really fast on it...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I installed some H4 conversion headlights. Want LEDs but still too expensive for me. Lubed the entire truck, checked all the fluids. Happy that I've been driving it around in the woods behind my house a little for the past couple days after replacing my broken cylinder liner and piston, and...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Got my new cylinder liner and piston put in my M925A1 today. But was halted because my new head gasket hasn't got here yet. Hate that when progress stops just because a part isn't here yet. I could make a 4 hour round trip to Portland where they have one in stock. Otherwise I have to wait...

Water in oil in M925A1 - New addition

Making a light bar over the cab.....Making progress....almost ready to install

That is awesome! I LOVE your placement! I like the way it is not sticking up above the cab. Makes it look very sleek, and less susceptible to being knocked off by tree branches and things. I've been thinking about doing something very similar on my M925. Except that I am mounting 5 amber...

Water in oil in M925A1 - New addition

Okay....What do you guys make of this? And do you think this could have contributed to my liner/piston problem, or maybe this happened as a result of the piston/liner problem, or just something entirely unrelated? The top half of this thrust washer, or whatever it's called was located in the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Mounted some nice bright LED backup lights. Installed a keyed ignition switch. Drained the nasty old fuel and water out of the fuel tank. Just doing little stuff here and there while I wait for my new cylinder liner and piston to come so I can get my M925A1 on the road.
