Radio installed. Can't remember if I posted these first two or not...
This is my gutted RT-524, with 24-12v DC-to-DC converter, a mini amp, and a set of 24v LEDs for the internal lighting and power lamp. Power is switched on and off through the switch on the front of the radio
I hid a cheap...
Duct tape and bailing wire? A piece of 550 cord? Maybe he just tied them together with the sleeves of his hoody. It was a half hitch knot, so it's all good.
Nice truck.
If you want to move the images "inline" with your text, you can always edit the post and then select a picture, ctl+x (cut), move the cursor where you want the image and ctl+v (paste). I definitely go back and move stuff around to organize a post rather than getting it right the...
Keep in mind that outside the theater, there's a recovery vehicle that can come get a broken down HMMWV and that the military considers soldiers' time "free"--so they don't care if a truck breaks down on the highway for the purposes of convenience. Some PFC can babysit the humvee until a...
So, I drove my M998 from Tennessee to Kansas (about 600 miles in eleven hours) this spring. There are a number of "convenience" things to keep in mind--many of which I'd forgotten in the 20-plus years since I drove one of these in the sandbox.
First, as mentioned above, your back/rear end will...
Probably my bad search skills, but I looked and didn't find a thread on this...
With fall almost here and winter on the way, I'm thinking about adding a block heater to the truck so I can start it a little more easily on those cold mornings here in Kansas. The installation seems pretty straight...
At a minimum you'll need:
- 4-man top
- Rear panel
- Bows and associated hardware
- Set of rear soft doors
- Seat backs
If you are going all out, you'll also want
- Rear seat belt kit
- Rear insulation set
It looks to me like the item you posted is just those two parts: seat belt kit and...
Another electrical project almost done...
This is some sort of APC light--originally with a broken blue lens. It's NBC hardened (rubber seals at every point) and has adjustable brightness. It looked pretty good so I thought I'd throw it up there, even though it's not strictly what we used...
This is the driver's side reinforcement. Left is towards the bed, right is the wheel well (obviously). I was fortunate in that although my truck didn't have rear belts installed, the reinforcements were already there.
Somewhere (I'll keep looking) there's a paper template for how these are laid...
Thanks! It was clear acrylic to start out with, then rattle canned OD. :-D
It did come out pretty good, but I think the .1" acrylic might be too thin. We'll have to see how it hold up. Plus, my bright idea for mounting it (I cut holes in the top so it could screw to the bottom of the panel)...
Agreed. I had a convertible with a clear plastic rear window that had some trouble from where it folded. Meguiar's clear plastic polish cleaned it up pretty well. It's not very expensive for a bottle and might be worth a try before going through the hassle and expense of new doors/windows.
Antennae for sure.
But... you can jump out of a Chinook. I made a half dozen Chinook jumps when I was in the 82nd. They put the rear cargo door down like a ramp and you walked off it. Not as fun as Blackhawk jumps (where you sit your hind end on the floor and your knees in the breeze) but...
Agreed. That's price is about twice what it's worth. The LED bulbs are all over (Amazon, eBay, etc) and you can get them for a couple bucks each. I think the lens deals are like $8. Unless you don't want to hassle with researching and ordering the parts. But really that eBay seller has a 100%...
Here's the damaged lens
I've got LEDs in it now, much brighter and not as hot. They were just a dollar or so each, so this was an easy fix.
These little guys have LEDs going all the way around, so they really light it up well.
Around here (central Kansas) you can still get pure gas without the corn syrup added. It's not much more expensive and well worth it, in my opinion.
On a note more related to this thread, I'm working on my RT-524
The radio was inexpensive, as it had no guts. Which is what I wanted. For car...
Looks pretty good.
I think that if you add more detail it will help with the realism. But from 20 feet away, I don't think the lack of detail is too noticeable. If you want more info about adding details, there are lots of sites on the 'net with drawings of the ma deuce, including dimensioned...
All,
I replaced one of my instrument light lenses (the little green-topped turret guys that screw in and out to control brightness) because it had melted. Looking at the other one, I see that it's starting to melt too. I noticed after I tried to turn the lens to change the brightness the other...
