I used some stuff from LMC Truck called Color Bond. Not sure how close a match it is, but I did the dash and door panels so it all looks the same. Very durable stuff. It's like spraying on a dye. It doesn't peel, flake, or come off.
I know you say it has new glow plugs, but if you had a glow plug system problem you could have burned them up even though new. I mention this because that is exactly what happened to me and I was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. If yours runs fine once it's warmed up it certainly...
That's funny and true.
Personally I think both are more than I would pay, but I would need to see and drive them to give you an accurate assessment. In the end they are worth what you are willing to pay.
That sucks. Are you going to look for another 6.2L to drop in? If I had this issue with my M1009 I think I would stick with the 6.2L, but if it happened to my M1028 I would probably build a 454 to drop in it.
Do a 14-bolt in the rear and the D60 upfront. The only gain the dually has is more towing capacity, but with the short wheelbase of the M1009 your not going to want to try to tow anything that heavy anyway. Not to mention 4-tires verses 6-tires saves some budget money for other things.
I love it. It works great and I can cruise on the interstate at about 2600 rpm's without getting run over. I would do it again in a heartbeat. You will not be disappointed.
I knew I shouldn't have procrastinated ordering my alternator rebuild kits. :) The items I have purchased from you worked perfectly and were shipped timely. I hope things work out for you with your health and business, and hope to see you up and running again very soon. Keep us posted as things...
The J&J racing tool does make short work of this problem. There is another tool by OTJ that uses a split nut that is a little less expensive. I think you can find it on eBay.
I love all the custom touch's. The shell casing with bullet for the lock grab is great. Hope you don't mind me stealing that idea. I need one for my M1028.
It screws on and has plastic buttons that snap on over the heads to help conceal them. This was another thing that I did do myself, but would have been easier with a second set of hands. I used a ratcheting cargo pole to help hold it in place while I mounted it.
No, I haven't even looked into...
Long overdue update
It's been a while since I have updated this so here goes. I did a seperate thread on the Gear Vendors overdrive, but it's in and works great.
Since my last update I installed an electric fuel pump, spin on fuel filter, Warn premium hubs, LMC overhead console with radio and...
Truck1 is right on about the operating instructions. The install instructions are also somewhat vague. They leave a lot to be desired. Fortunately the install is fairly simple so the instructions not being the best doesn't hurt too bad. The customer service at GV is also very good so I would not...
My tire circumference is 33.1".
The aluminum driveshaft reduces a lot of weight therefor it lessons the chance of vibrations considering the GV unit hangs off the back of the transfer case about 12" more than the original tail shaft alone. The aluminum one was probably about $50 more than...
We did not discuss what the 4x4 lockout circuit requires. I will play with it a little and see what happens.
The maiden voyage to the office today via highway and running between 65 & 70mph was very nice. The tiny tach was reading anywhere from 2450 to 2650rpm's depending on speed. I'm...
