I have hauled twice with the 7500# Uhaul trailer, once from Fort Meade and again from the Whitehall DLA site (essentially the same route as you). I would definitely opt for a wide deck/deck over equipment trailer. It really is like squeezing a fat girl in a little dress with the uhaul trailer...

I have a 1995 A1 with a 6.2 also. My assumption was that AM General stuffed a left over 6.2 in there, but it is just as likely the motor pool did it at some point. It has all LED lights and the 210 amp alternator FWIW.
