    m1009 blazer 25mph @ 8% grade

The CUCV was never meant to be like a modern diesel and drag 10,000 lb up a 7% grade at 75. With turbo 65-70 would be max up a 7% roasting the motor. I run about 55 but before the turbo 40 was not uncommon. EGT is always a concern going up hills since you can melt the motor lugging. With...

    Inverter Question

That's what I did but it won't reach all the way to the front battery so I flipped the second battery around and hooked the rear bus bar lead to the Negative of the second battery. It works great for about 1500 watts, anything more and the one battery can put out enough. Just watch out since its...

    cucv/ M35 axles

I've always thought they are overkill unless you have really big horse power or a truck similar in size to what they came out of. Most people with them are just compensating for something. These days they are more for show. I don't understand how people break them. People need to stop...

    M1009 Transmission Issue - newbie

Keep revving it and it should shift around 3000 rpm, if it doesn't your looking at the governor or valve body. If it does check for vacuum at the modulator and the valve on the side of the injection pump.

    Towing questions before moving

A brake controller is not that expensive, I got mine used for $10 off craigs list. Even new time delay ones are only like $60. To hook them up its 4 wires, bat, ground, brake light, and the connection to the plug. They definitely are a lot better then surge or no brakes.

    12V compressor

Or you could hook it to the rear battery's negative just not the second battery's positive.

    Missing Banks Turbo parts...any sources?

Not unless your heads and manifold don't mate properly they do make them but aren't necessary. There is a funny sized gasket on the crossover to passenger manifold and the banks turbo to down pipe is only available through them but is relatively cheap. Those are just fancy lock nuts for high...

does the 6.2 need backpressure ?

Has anyone actually ever seen a valve crack from thermal stresses due to no exhaust system? It seams to me that conduction and radiation from the head would keep it relatively warm. I don't see a lot of flow going back into the cylinder since it is a fixed volume that isn't going to cool off...

    front wheel free travel

One tire in the air in 2wd hubs locked on all but the trucks with front lockers will spin freely and you should see the front drive shaft spinning. In 4wd it should only move a little bit as long as the wheel on the ground doesn't slip and the drive shaft won't move.

    Transmission leak

Sometime when autos are over full or get really hot the fluid reaches the vent and will leak down the passenger side from up by the bell housing area.

    CDR Valve air oil seperator

Not knowing how fast the air was moving or how hot it was I took a wild guess that apparently was more little low. I made an expansion chamber that wasn't anywhere near large enough to cause the oil to condense. I think I got 3 drops of oil and the intake is still coated. A filter is probably a...

    Front axle change for Moab

They make a fairly cheap locker that just replaces the spider gears. I forget what the technical term is but its basically 2 side gears that over run a center section. I think you can get them from summit still. That is the easiest way since you don't have to remove the carrier and re-setup the...

I towed a big boat with my m1009, that's the most you've towed?

They are slow to launch empty, and even slower with a trailer. The diesels got low stall converters so your launching at around 1000 instead of 15-1800 rpm for a gasser. Its having to pull through it up to its power band instead of slipping up to it. That doesn't work too well without the gears...

    Trans not shifting to second

It probably could cause a problem but if the 1-2 shift is good then it most likely is something other then the gear. It shouldn't shift out of first without the governor spinning. The weights might be hanging up though. Other then that I would try the unplugging the detent switch on the...

    Banks Boost Questions

Most I've every got is 6 and that was up hill at 1150. It is usualy around 5 at full throttle. The 1009's gears makes it hard for it to spin up the turbo since the motor is only going about 2300 at 65.

    Waterproofing question (M1009)

Run a rubber line from the trans vent up to the cowl area because that is your lowest vent followed by the axles. After that your probably good to the power steering pump level and deeper depending on how well that cap seals.

    wiring inverter to 2nd battery

I thought about it a little more today and the second battery idea may not be worth the risk of burning up what to me is an expensive piece of equipment. I like the idea of moving the wire from the 24V bus to the negative of the 2nd bat since the positive of the first already has the winch...

    wiring inverter to 2nd battery

I'm thinking of getting a 2000-2500 watt inverter for the back of my 1009 to power some tools and a small compressor. Since the 24v ones are more expensive my budget limits me to a regular 12v one. I already have my winch being powered off the front bat and its also powering the inside of the...

Turning my m1028 into a mountain shuttle

So did you use the troop seats in the back or did you cram people in the front? What is the legality of riding in the back? Berthod pass to me doesn't seem that bad since it has all those switch backs you can't go that fast anyways. Its more of a problem getting there. Did you take I-70 or...

    autozone shackle kit

I would use 1.75" add a leafs and 2.5" longer shackles made out of plate with a cross brace for the front. The shackle increases the caster angle, your thinking of a vehicle with shackles on the front like a jeep which makes it negative. Positive actually makes it more stable and harder to turn...
