Need to have a BTR-152 hauled from near SLC, UT to Farmington, MO
Specs on BTR-152 are
~22,000 lbs
22.4ft long
6.85ft high
7.6ft wide
Vehicle does not run
There will be assistance to load (they have a dock there as well)
Unloading - no dock
Have plenty of vehicles to help pull it off...
Well for price comparison - here is the only other place I have seen SUMBs for sale in the States.
They are not uncommon for sale in Europe though.
FRENCH SUMB
BTR-40 is ready to be loaded on the trailer today. I think she is exited to be going on a road trip and being oogled by all the guys:)
All display gear is staged and getting loaded in the truck today.
Leave out tomorrow morning for a "fun" drive across Missouri in the Deuce :-(
Stay in KC...
In the second pic is even at least 3 URAL 375Ds or 4320s - though I cannot see the beds so they may be tractor variants to haul more trailers with Bradleys etc.
Very cool pics - I would have loved to use Tatras or URALs instead of my 5 Ton when I was in:driver:
Well - it is a "Private" road - we all pay into a fund to maintain it.
Problem is that this fall/early winter was wet and part of the road is on top of solid granite - so it heaved when it froze.
Mind you - I did not drive my trucks on it until after it heaved and only once - so it was not...
Really that simple huh?
I guess all the formulas I found just had me thinking it was so much more complicated.
But that makes sense I guess.
I knew that the overall pressure would be less than you would think looking at them since all that weight is on 10 large tires but could not figure out...
OK - having searched this site, manuals and the web and not finding the answer - I am posting in hopes that somebody has the answer before I have to start doing math:-(
I am trying to find the approximate ground contact pressure of an M35A2 with Stock NDT 900X20 tires at the proper road tire...
Nope - these are not the ones in Saucier, MS
That is a whole other dreamland of Russian goodness:)
Have the contact info for that place too - just need to work details to get some non-truck stuff out of there. Stakes, stools, tables, radio racks etc that are in the containers on the trucks.
Having just driven ~700 miles roundtrip this last weekend in my Deuce - pulling a trailer with my BTR-40 on it - I can say go for it :driver:
You learn all about the various sounds and performance of your green toy - though it does get mind numbing at times in the middle of the night. :?
I might be able to get some Russian trucks and trailers from the "southeast, US" - not sure where exactly yet but it is on a military base so lets go for Ft Gordon, GA for this exercise.
Would need them hauled to Farmington, MO (near St Louis, MO).
They are approx Duece sized trucks (several...
Actually the heater is sort of crap - at least in mine.
And for a vehicle built in Russia it is surprisingly cold-blooded.
Even with all of its quirks and oddities - it is a very cool little truck.
Of all my goodies - that is the one that all the guys like the most.
I am even thinking I...
OK course they do - they are also all dressed as East Germans:)
Some have the MPi versions of the AK as well (East German manufactured AKs are named MPi-****)
I think they make great accessories as well[thumbzup]
BTW - went back and upload all the pics for this thread as attachments so they cannot be lost later.
OK - so just got back from picking up the BTR - had trailer troubles last weekend when coming home.
So 9 more hours of driving one of the Deuces up there and back to get the BTR home again.
But it is home now and it did get used some for the event. It was fun driving it around and seeing it...
So - finally got the BTR-40 painted a couple weeks ago.
Could not get the RAL 6003 in matte since I waited too late before EW3 to get it done.
Had paint color matched to a model paint called 'Russian Armor Green' after trying several similar colors as well.
Did not turn out too bad after all...
Probably - though if the rest of East Wind did not scare them that would not even phase them:)
We field a Russian and an East German unit - uniforms, radios, tents and some vehicles - you name it. As close to being in the Warsaw Pact armies as it gets.
I hope to finally get my BTR-40...
Actually - the modified BTR-40s needs Hebrew commands:)
It would be very cool if you wanted to hit East Wind on your way through.
I am thinking that it would be a rare event to have two operational BTR-40s working together again in the US.
