    HMMWV rims and M1008 ??

If they are properly welded and not cobbled together, get them recentered. Nobody is going to look at them twice unless you have a spectacular crash, and then that's the least of your worries. The whole argument is like the FMVSS debate in WI, it's bureaucratic paper shuffling. If the work is...

    gilliispie paint

Let me know how that comes out. Two part is always more durable than single stage, but is usually only in semi-gloss or gloss. To get a true flat, a flat clear might work, but I'd be interested to see how it looks.

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

I'm thinking about putting the CUCV glow plug controller and system in mine. The harness is stand-alone for the most part, and when I swap the CUCV engine in, all the sensors will already be there.

Confused about CUCV and CUCV II

The J code was used in 3/4 and 1 ton civvie trucks, the military contract included cross swappable parts, so the K5 got the heavy engine and TH400. Also, the transfer case has the same gears in it as the 4.56 1 tons, but has a convertor box. Another bit of trivia is that the trucks are all based...

Cucv III / LSSV loaded and on the way home

I was going to go $10k on that truck, but it passed that benchmark in the first 4 hours. Nice score.

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Out of curiosity, why is everyone against the tailgate trucks? And you're lucky, your truck looks **** good compared to mine. Mine's a half ton, A/C's been taken off, but it has a Banks kit. And it's a tailgate truck. I'm swapping to 3/4 ton axles, buckets to replace the bent bench, and adding...

    Tow Baring a CUCV

When picking up a truck you don't know anything about, I feel it's always better to err on the side of caution and pull the rear shaft. But yes, a properly maintained CUCV can be towed at highway speeds for however far you want to go with the transfer in neutral. Later, Joe

My 1990 GMC Suburban CUCV clone AKA: M1007 or M1029

I look forward to it. My Sub's a tailgate/quad headlight model too. I'm going to do the relay mod to get single headlights, and look forward to seeing what you do with the hitch/step bumper setup. Later

    Tow Baring a CUCV

I towed it at 75 when I was on the interstate with no issues at all, but I chose my route to minimize interstate travel and took the back roads just to enjoy the trip. But again, I also stopped about every hour to check the truck to make sure bearings weren't getting hot, tires were still good...

    Tow Baring a CUCV

The transfer case in neutral is ok for short tows, but I would pull the shaft to be safe on anything I don't personally know the history of. It's four bolts and takes about 15 minutes if you're slow. Oh, and ALWAYS leave the column unlocked when flat towing, otherwise the towed vehicle will NOT...

    205 swap in a 1008

According to the guy, the bed was on a Dodge pickup chassis, not a cab & chassis. I'm going this weekend to take a look and some measurements to verify this. I'd like some more info on moving the axle to get it to 60" CA though. What's involved besides rotating the springs? Remember, I'm going...

    205 swap in a 1008

I have the 400 to 208 adapter that came stock. All I'm getting is the transfer, no crossmembers or shifters. Might do a twin stick kit on it to get 2Low. We'll see. Yea, it's fixed yoke. Probably just going to have a slip joint driveshaft made for it. Bed I've found is a Holmes twin line sling...

    205 swap in a 1008

Hey guys, I've found an NP205 from a 89 1 ton that is the 6 round pattern, does anyone know if this will bolt straight up to my TH400 or will I need to change something? Also, what parts would I need to complete the conversion? I'm building a wrecker out of mine. Already did the dually...

    M1009 Light Bar?

Of course, all of this is dependent on what you want. 'Period Correct' spans 20 years of service life. All of those bars were available throughout their period of service, so they are technically correct. And as far as cost goes, when has the military ever worried about cost? LOL And yes, the...

    M1009 Light Bar?

More details on the mods to the Edge please. I have a couple of Edge bars that I'm interested in modding like that. Thanks

    M1010 DUVAC Removal Plan "B"

A quick Google of the part number (42-6919) comes up with a 59" circumference .5" wide belt. And (42-6921) is a 52.3" circumference .5" wide belt. Cross referencing these to GM part numbers, got me Delco 17590 for the first and Delco 17520 for the second. Available at http://www.vbeltsupply.com...

    M1009 Light Bar?

Depended on the job. Our barrier maintenance trucks had red or Red/yellow bars on them. Maintenance only trucks had amber. We had those bars too. Streethawk I think those were called? Anyway, you should be able to find some driprail mounts to put it on the truck without drilling into the cab...

    M1009 Light Bar?

There was no 'standard' lightbar used by the military. We had Federal Signal Aerodynic, Federal Signal Jetsonic, and Whelen Edge lightbars on different trucks in the Air Force. Later

Who recentered those HMMWV wheels? How much did it cost? Thanks

My 1990 GMC Suburban CUCV clone AKA: M1007 or M1029

Hey K9, I know you were trying to sell this, did you? I'm getting ready to put a CUCV rear step bumper on my Sub and was wondering if you had any tips/pics of yours to help me figure out how best to do it. I don't have a plasma cutter, so anything to help me out would be great. Thanks
